Alabama assistant coach arrested for marijuana

The amount makes absolutely no difference. If caught a couple hours earlier I'm sure it would have been more.

Yes it does. One would figure that amount is disposable somehow.

Also, to call someone an idiot for clearly knowing more than you on a subject make you seem like a narrow-minded, judgmental idiot. Even if it was never burned the plant is one of the most useful cash crops in human history. Paper, fuel, food, clothes and even hygiene products are easily produced from something we call a weed for a reason, because It grows like one. To disvalue such a rich renewable resource is ridiculous...Jmo Btw, water is dangerous if you drink to much of it.

I partook in the same amount as the assistant coach's while reading this thread... Bama still sucks and it's not the government's job to protect a man from himself.

I smoked for years.I quit about two years ago.It never made me lazy. The ones it took ther motivation away were the ones who were lazy to begin with. They were spoiled brats whose parents did everything for them. They are still living with there parents at the age of 30.Ive held down a job since i was 12 years old.

When exactly did I say I would be ok with my children smoking pot? Its a medicine and can be abused like any other medicine. The fact of the matter is, there are people out there with legitimate medical issues that marijuana can help with.. and a hell of a lot safer then things currently used to treat them. If you think for one second that those low will power and impressionable teenagers you talk about won't go and abuse other more dangerous things your the one who is laughable... or have you never seen anyone strung out on legal pain pills that have much worse side effects? And also have the chance of overdosing and actually causing death?

Use your brains a little...

You said it should be legal, and that you'd kill your kids yourself for touching alcohol. What does pill abuse have to do with this? Pot should be legal to keep teenagers from doing more dangerous things?

Medicinal marijuana and pain killers serve a purpose. That doesn't mean I think they shouldn't be controlled substances.

I'm sure the Bama coach was using it for all of those things or he could just smoke it to get high. There's always that.

At times I'm torn on the subject of whether it should be legal or not, I smoked all day every day for years. For some to say its harmless is simply not true.

There are many things that it could be used for that are good, smoking it, to me isn't one of them.

Key part of this is you smoked all day everyday. It's called moderation. You eat all day and it's not good for you.

I have a problem with folks that cannot even balance a budget telling me what i can and cannot put into my body.
Its way past time to legalize marijuana. Stop blaming the substance and start making people be responsible for their actions.
Our prisons are full with non violent drug users, its stupid.

Ricky Williams endorses this thread.. I like the fact that hemp stalks make some excellent rot proof rope, can be compressed into some hellacious fiberboard plywood type product, helps people with glaucoma, etc. however I do not smoke it. But if the American natives smoked it I see no logical reason to ban it. It predates our constitution on this soil. I like the idea of saving all the money too on helicopters, diesel, guns, ammo, insurance, etc and putting that money to use elsewhere.

Heres a compromise that we can all agree on:
If a UT player is caught with weed, it should be legal and its a stupid law

If a Bammer, UK, Gator, ect player is caught with it, they should be following the law and deserve the punishment.

Marijuana doesn't make you lazy or stupid. It just allows people to see you're lazy and stupid. Is it a gun's fault it kills someone? Stop blaming the substance and place the responsibility where it belongs. If you know lazy, stupid peoople that smoke pot, they'd still be lazy stupid people if they didn't smoke pot. People are who they are and we shouldn't make excuses for them.

Can you just clear up one thing for me: Are you saying that smoking pot has ZERO affect on a persons
1) Mental Capacity
2) Long Term Health
3) Ability to operate machinery
d) amount of snacks in the cupboard

Not any more than alcohol, probably less in some cases.
