Does TrUT realize there is a thing called "Seasonally Adjusted" Unemployment Data that seperates out the seasonal hires

I do.

Do you realize that even when these statistics are 'seasonally adjusted' the unemployment rate still drops, just not as drastically, from November through January across the US?

dramatic Drop in Unemployment Continues After Crackdown on Illegals

Alabama Miracle? Dramatic Drop in Unemployment Continues After Crackdown on Illegals | Stand With Arizona

WOW! Get rid of illegals, and Americans get hired! What a concept!

Wake me up when you have significant data. I'm not saying that unemployment hasn't dropped in wake of the illegals departure, I'm saying it will make no long term difference. This is a temporary spike. How much money did they just chase out of the state? What's going to happen with the housing that supported "tens of thousands" of illegals? Etc.

I expected this thread to be more racist but it isn't living up to it's name. Can we have some good ole fashioned name calling going on?

And the crime, demand on schools, demand on health serviceand emergency services and...

What happens to all the property taxes the illegals were paying to support the schools? Now you're looking at going from say 20 students per classroom to 15, so they're paying teachers more per student. Etc.

According to the "Seasonally Adjusted" Data, Alabama UE rate was 9.9% in August. While the whle country's UE rate in August was 9.1%. Currently Alabamas UE rate is 8.7% while the countrys is 8.6%. So Bamas UE rate dropped 1.1% vs US UE rate dropped 0.5%

So the data shows Alabama is doing something right

What do you use to explain Alabama's larger than average drop in UE, from November through December, in 2010?

The law is too harsh. As a counter to the OP, there are pretty strong indications that BBVA/Compass (A Spanish-owned bank) chose to NOT open a major office here instead opting for Houston.

As a bit of history. Compass was HQ'd in Birmingham and BBVA bought them a couple years ago. There was hope that substantial operations would remain in Bham but as stated above there is compelling evidence the new immigration laws were enough to justify moving more activity to Houston.

Again, the bill's going to make UE look better on paper than it actually is.

It just means an extra 0.6% of certified US citizens are working. There probably weren't any new jobs created.

It requires virtually anyone that has contact with anyone with a remote chance of being illegal to verify and face penalties if they fail to. It's really overkill.

Hell, if some guy came around to rake my leaves and I didn't have him produce papers I'd be in trouble. Same with schools, businesses, apartments, etc. No need to require citizens to be part of the enforcement/documentation effort.

Hell, we detained a senior exec from Mercedes because he didn't have his license with him. Ridiculous.

Are you really Mitt Romney?

I remember Perry attacking Romney in one of the debates for having illegal lawn mowers.

Does the OP realize that the unemployment rates across the nation routinely drop from November to January due to seasonal jobs? Does the OP realize that it happened once again this year, across the nation?

The Alabama Miracle seems to be an American Miracle (every damned year)!

It's a Festivus Miracle!

I didbt have a problem with the Mercades guy and neither did he. He got his drivers license and went on his merry way. The law addresses knowingly hiring illegals. Business will be using the e-verify so it not really any harder on them. I think a lot of the negatives ob the bill is pure political posturing by people who dont even live in the state
