Alabama @ Ole Miss CBS 3:30pm

The problem is Ole miss scores too quick. They keep putting their D on the field and the D is gassed. They can't keep a run game going and slow down the game.

Or their defense just isn't that good. Or at least not good enough to sustain it across a game.

Look at Bama throwing the ball down the field with a true freshman QB. They are not afraid of letting him try the high risk passes. Must be nice to not watch your team throw bubble screen after bubble screen.

"Let's see if WE can get a pooch punt for Alabama, or if Ole Miss can get this ball and get it in good field position." Gary even admits which side he is on.

I think that last drive was the difference in the game. Alabama could have put it away. They didn't. Keeps ole miss playing.

That or the idea is to run more and throw those very short passes with the goal being hopefully to not have to lean/rely terribly much on the passing game we have.

That was so Dobbs.

TD alabama. We better get GJ ready in a hurry... or who ever is taking over... I don't care who it is. Get them ready.

I think their D is known for being good. They were very good until the middle of the game.

That's kind of my point. They're not good because they can't sustain that level of play across the whole game.

It's less they get too tired because the offense scores to quickly and more they either start falling apart / can't deal with teams making adjustments to them as the game goes on.

And their D was known for being good in 2014 (and maybe 2013). It really wasn't terribly great for them last year.

The goal is to set up the big pass to malone.

But then they don't trust the passing game enough for it to be more of a feature part of the offense other than a "try to catch them selling against the run / being off guard after defending so many runs."

There might be a reason the coaches aren't more comfortable enough with it to feature it more.

Have to applaud Ole Miss's #8 though. He didn't give up, ran the whole play, and could have either made the tackle or maybe even knocked it loose before the goal line.

It says a lot to any coach if a player keeps going like that when they could have just stopped.
