To transfer. 2 years eligibility remaining. Can play immediately. Forget finding a QB in the 17 class. Pick up this guy. Saban made a mistake never starting him.
Yes, Saban did imo. Cornwell has all the characteristics to be one of the best passers in the country. Of course, Bama has always been based on a run first concept.
"Saban made a mistake"? Lol.
Yeah, if they'd started him last maybe they could've won the national title....and if he'd been the starter this year, they maybe could've gone undefeated and maybe, just maybe, have won the SEC and be the #1 seed in the 4 team playoff.
If he was to transfer here, I guarantee you at least half the guys on here will call him "the next Worley/a Worley clone" who doesn't fit the offense.
From what I hear he is a graduate transfer and Saban can't keep him from any school...but I may be wrong. As long as he picks a major that Bama doesn't offer in their graduate programs.
I thought they couldn't also...previously. Kelly at Notre Dame blocked Everett Golson from graduate transferring to Texas, due to Texas being on the schedule that season. Other teams on the schedule were eliminated as possibilities. Saban did allow a defensive player to go that route to UGA this previous season...after previously rejecting it.
Saban tried to do the same thing last year with a DB that went to UGA but the commissioner over-ruled it, I think?
Saban ultimately changed course and allowed Maurice Smith to go to UGA. But the Commissioner didn't, and couldn't, do anything because there is a rule in the SEC that grad transfers within the conference require a release from the current coach.
