First, I am not really sure that Catholics do not believe in the effectiveness of birth control. The Catholic Church does not condone the use of birth control. However, the Catholic Church does not exactly condone premarital sex, either. That being the case, if a teenager is going to act in defiance against the Catholic Church and engage in premarital sex, I doubt that teen is going to swear off condoms due to the stance of the Catholic Church.Teen pregnancy rates are often higher in areas that have are "lower class" which generally means not as well educated and often times inner cites. If you want to look at certain groups of people, say hispanic, the reason for high teen pregnancies is because of their belief system. A majority of hispanics are catholic. Catholics do not believe in birth control....
