TENNESSEE IMPRESSES TRANSFER DE TARGET
Albany transfer
Jared Verse, an edge rusher who has emerged as one of the most coveted players in the NCAA transfer portal, also traveled to Tennessee over the weekend for what turned out to be his fourth and final official visit. He originally planned to spend most of Saturday with the Vols before heading to Purdue early Sunday morning, but he instead decided to stay in Knoxville longer and call off his visit with the Boilermakers.
Sources close to his recruitment believed Sunday that his final decision might come down to Florida State and Tennessee. But then he added an offer from Auburn and indicated that the Tigers weren’t too late to become a factor, offering a reminder that his recruitment won’t necessarily end this week. Since transfers don’t sign National Letters of Intent, he can wait beyond this week if he needs more time, so a decision could come any time over the next two to three weeks. But the Vols appear to be one of the teams in the best shape with the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Verse, who also took official visits to Syracuse and Houston before heading to Florida State on Thursday and Tennessee on Saturday.
