Albany DE Jared Verse (transfer - FSU commit)

No but he can’t visit in person so that puts them way behind the 8 ball
I may be mistaken, but I think he can visit after the dead period. Just not sure when the dead period ends and he wants to be on campus somewhere for winter term

TENNESSEE IMPRESSES TRANSFER DE TARGET

Albany transfer Jared Verse, an edge rusher who has emerged as one of the most coveted players in the NCAA transfer portal, also traveled to Tennessee over the weekend for what turned out to be his fourth and final official visit. He originally planned to spend most of Saturday with the Vols before heading to Purdue early Sunday morning, but he instead decided to stay in Knoxville longer and call off his visit with the Boilermakers.

Sources close to his recruitment believed Sunday that his final decision might come down to Florida State and Tennessee. But then he added an offer from Auburn and indicated that the Tigers weren’t too late to become a factor, offering a reminder that his recruitment won’t necessarily end this week. Since transfers don’t sign National Letters of Intent, he can wait beyond this week if he needs more time, so a decision could come any time over the next two to three weeks. But the Vols appear to be one of the teams in the best shape with the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Verse, who also took official visits to Syracuse and Houston before heading to Florida State on Thursday and Tennessee on Saturday.

We jumped in the boat early on this one and all the other big time programs are just riding our coattails. Surely some of these early evaluations of players before their stock takes off will result in something for the good guys eventually.

Feels like it’s always Auburn, FSU, Miami and teams like that just blindly following behind us offering whoever we are after. Clemson and Ole Miss have done it before too.

With the addition of West, and potentially Pearce, how do we expect that to affect Verse's decision?

I would love all 3, but if it's between Verse and Pearce, I want Verse.

We need all the help we can get on the DL. I absolutely think West, Verse and Pearce are all takes. We simply can't turn away that kind of talent at that position. Things like this are why you saw us cut ties with the TE earlier this week and why we didn't accept CJ Smith.
