Albert T's family publicly denied that Albert T. spit on that camera man on Saturday. The family has video which shows Albet spitting on the ground. Also Albert vehemently denies spitting on the camera man. According to the T family, Fulmer was going to read a statement monday night regarding the incident but he did not.

Interesting!!!!!!

If you heard the interview, you would wonder what is going on!!!!

Hmmm...that was opposite of what was said as of last night. It was said he apologized to the team for his behavior, etc.

the apology was for throwing the helmet and leaving it on the field according to T's family.

Allegation- Numerous helmets left on the field reported by most news outlets.

Fact- two helmetas left on the field.

I wonder what the truth is here.

They were saying on a few stations yesterday that the equipment managers had picked some up and the last thing they did were to look at numbers. I think Gandy was caught on video, Toeina admitted his, Clausen's was there because he was injured and was carried off.

Odds are we'll never know how many were left on the field. I doubt this is some biased media conspiracy. I'm sure there were a lot of helmet tossing going on. Some probably picked theirs up right quick and some equipment managers probably picked them up as well. We'll never know. The issue is over.

Well the stories have consistently named the JumboTron cameraman. He has not come out and denied it and I'd imagine that the reporters would have to get his name and the incident from someone.

So go question the cameraman again. We know who he is. Ask him again if this happened. I doubt the media sought out a name of someone and made up a story. Now this guy could have made it up. It's his word against Toeina's and from stories in the news and from stories some here have posted, this guy has a history of questionable behavior.

The Toe family was on radio this AM discussing the issue. Albert's mother was really emotional and reiterated her son's insistence that he did not spit ON the cameraman.

Two comments:

1) Spitting in general, be it at someone or on the ground in their direction is immature, insulting, and inexcusable. It is also the utmost embarassment to those who have left their hearts on that field and to those of us who call UT our Alma Mater.

2) We all thought that losing to Vanderbilt capped off our low this year. With this story and the "helmet incident," it makes me very nervous that we are reaching for even further decline. What will happen if we perform poorly at Kentucky, and does anyone else think that a poor performance at this point is all but inevitable?

At this point I'm expecting a poor performance, I hope they dig down deep and try to regain some pride but sadly if they don't it won't surprise me(dissapoint yes, surprise no)...I keep having flashbacks from the "I'm the future" season only this season has spiraled deeper into the abyss.

Funny. I was thinking about the same thing this morning. I guess that's the last time I felt like this. Relfecting, it's really not the win-loss record that is eating at me this year. It's that our program which is so rich in heritage and tradition -- from our name, to the players that have respected their opportunity to represent the university and the state, to the generations of fans that have bled orange -- has become the laughing stock of the media and an embarassment to those who hold Tennessee so close to our hearts.

Surely Fulmer wouldn't throw Al under the bus to deflect criticism...

I'm afraid this may be another damage control attempt by CPF to deflect criticism aimed at him.

IF you could point back to one player that things started to change, that would be it. The entire attitude of the program went to the can after that. For gods sake, we have a player that got busted with a fake penis on him...how embarrassing

Shouldn't Oregon get credit/blame for the illustrious Onterrio Smith?

Does anyone remember "gobbing" from the late 70s-early 80s punk scene? Spitting on the band was a sign of approval, like clapping. There is the possibility that he inadvertently spewed something in the cameraman's general direction. I know that sometimes when I am running I will just launch some spittle out with a deeply exhaled breath. If he did spit on someone on purpose it could be considered assault with a deadly weapon. I have heard of this charge being made against HIV infectees who spit on police officers.

I guess farting is out too :biggrin2:

Seriously KD, why not wait until we have the facts. He may have been spitting and the guy happened to be in the area. That's very different then spitting at someone. Like it or not, football is full of spit. If he spat at the guy that's one thing but it's no sin if he was just spitting.

Well, I was there and I've stated before today's articles that I saw two helmets -- which were Clausen and Toeina. It looks like I missed one -- maybe Gandy.

Rememeber, the media culture loves to dig out "big bad athlete" stories and assume the moral high-ground. They are beating this thing to death, and I don't see why this is so reprehensible. Throwing helmets in anger is not exactly a disrespectful thing to do. That's what 20 year-old kids do when they're working like heck.

Leaving them on the field -- kind of a symbol of quitting -- is, however, disrespectful. That is what I would be upset about. The rest of this stuff is just made up politically correct media mumbo jumbo.

The cameraman was on this morning and stated that it was not intentional. He was hit by spray from AT spitting at the ground.

It's still disrespectful, but why in the world did it take this long for the cameraman to clarify the story?
