Alex Jones found liable over Sandy Hook hoax conspiracy

If anybody wants to know a little bit about how incredibly impactful Alex Jones' dumbassery can be, listen to this pod about a Father of a Sandy Hook victim.

Beware the Jabberwock - This American Life
So some underaged high school teenagers lured him into a bar fight ambush.
Oh, and the high school rape story? OK...

EDIT: It was a "barn", not a bar. That narrator's accent is horrible.

That's your critique? LOL. Do you even know what TAL is? It's a pod about people telling their stories, mostly. Not a single fact? Really? Like maybe they mentioned that Sandy Hook really happened? That's a fact.

Why do you think that story is BS? Just cause?

No I don’t know what TAL is. Yes SH happened and no it wasn’t a hoax. I just don’t believe some random guy in a bar would have that conversation with a parent of a SH victim.

Look, I feel for those that lost children or other loved ones at SH. It was tragic. I lost compassion for the parents/loved ones that went after the 2A after the tragedy.

Oh so wait... Alex said this guy Jared attacked him first, and he was therefore defending himself. Then Alex asks this guy if he was attacked, wouldn't he defend himself. The interviewer actually said no, he wouldn't defend himself.

WOW...

I’ll be honest - I don’t follow Alex Jones, am not up to speed on this, and I’m not gonna read up on the nonsense either.

Did he get in trouble for saying dumb sh!t about Sandy Hook?
Or did he get in trouble for something that led to a fight in a bar/barn?

The article made it sound like he got in trouble because of some documents that were never turned over.

Yep, he is a despicable human being. It would be fitting if he ends up living in a box down by the river.

He makes a living throwing red meat to fringe right wolves. Anyone who ever took him seriously or worse, continues to take him seriously is completely braindead.

Thanks for telling me why you're biased about this.

You don't believe that a conspiracy theorist would behave badly in a complicated social situation relating to a conspiracy theory the conspiracy theorist believes?....

Ignored court orders to produce documents. Morally he's giant POS who should be shunned ALL of society at all times. Instead he creates nonsense conspiracy theories.

Isn’t it rather difficult to turn over documents that never existed in the first place?

Called Sandy Hook a hoax. So essentially you don’t have freedom of speech.
It is unrelated to this particular report, but with regards to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Alex Jones has done much more than that. Without a shred of evidence to support his allegations, Jones has accused parents of murdered Sandy Hook Elementary School children of being actors, who had been paid by an anti-gun lobby to appear on television and lie about having a child killed in the massacre.

???
What did he do wrong?
Once again, it's unrelated to this particular incident in question, but in the past Alex Jones has accused parents of Sandy Hook shooting victims, who had been giving televised interviews, of being paid actors. Alex Jones later admitted that he didn't really believe that. So why did he say it in the first place? Because he is a dishonest and mean-spirited troll.

The 1st Amendment does not protect slander. Alex Jones should not have publicly made such serious accusations against innocent people, if he knew they were lies.

This is tribalism. You've just admitted that your capacity for empathy only extends to those who are in accord with your political views, even when the deaths of innocent children are involved. Feeling compassion for a parent, following the murder of their child shouldn't come with strings attached, unless you are an emotionally immature and petty little person, who is tribal in nature.

Um this thread is about the Sandy Hook shooting. And again, why should he be held liable for an opinion? You are basically supporting the suppression of freedom of speech.

Emotions and empathy are not reasonable excuses to go after the rights of others.

That was not an opinion. It was a stated accusation, which he has since admitted that he didn't even believe himself, at the time he said it. Once again, slander is not protected by the 1st Amendment..
