Not much way the debt goes down with obligations kicked down the road by previous congressional critters - regardless of president. You do know congress controls spending? A president can inflame congress and get it to pass legislation that just keeps on giving ... Roosevelt, LBJ, and Obama are great examples of that. What new stuff has Trump pushed that has upped the debt? As I recall the debt is in the trillions, and congress wouldn't approve less than $10B for border security as requested by Trump.

A far as bump stocks. Automatic weapons are not allowed and haven't been for some time. If someone makes a device that essentially turns a firearm into an automatic firearm, then it is simply an end run around an existing law. You'd think it would only be a matter of time before a court somewhere made the same ruling. Nobody should have a problem with Trump's point of view; he simply kept fully automatic weapons (whether by initial design or modification) illegal. If you have a problem with that, go back to the legislation that made machine guns illegal in the first place.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) declared that she would never apologize for comparing detention facilities at the U.S. border with “concentration camps” in Nazi-occupied Europe.

Ocasio-Cortez made the comparison on a live Instagram video stream on Monday night: “That is exactly what they are. They are concentration camps,” she said, adding that the phrase “never again” — popularly associated with the memory of the Holocaust — “means something.”

Ocasio-Cortez drew criticism all day Tuesday. But she kept doubling down and digging in, first insisting the detention camps met the definition of “concentration camps”; then trying to draw a distinction between “concentration camps” and “death camps”; then arguing that the U.S. had also used “concentration camps” when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (a Democrat) interned Japanese-Americans during the Second World War. She also spent hours retweeting supportive messages from those on the left who attempted to defend her use of the “concentration camp” analogy. And she resumed her fight Wednesday morning, arguing that the U.S. had “run concentration camps before.”

By then, even CNN had enough. John Avlon — no friend of President Donald Trump — said that Ocasio-Cortez had gone “across the line,” adding: “It’s not that hard to apologize. she should do it. It’s unacceptable.”

I'm pretty sure that Obama would have done something about bump stocks if he knew that they existed and what they were.

I actually believed that Barry would have done something. Especially a mass shooting on his watch. Based on lack of general knowledge by the public about the devices, I am re-liking the post. I think he would have done something had he been faced with the same issue Trump was. Especially since he was just as "feelz" oriented as Donny is. The only thing that Trump has done is "ban" the Bump Stocks. It wouldn't stand up in court as someone with a license to own a fully automatic weapon could take it to court and win if they cared to go that far. By Trump's logic, fully auto weapons should be "banned" to the public and they aren't. Other than that, he has yet to do anything to the 2A that I can tell.

It's almost like people are giving her a free pass because people don't think she's intelligent to know what she did wrong. Have any liberal voices spoken up to condemn her comments? Asking because I don't truly know. Comparing the border camps to actual concentration camps, that's just insane. In some ways, I'm surprised no one has accused her of anti-Semitism for the comments. She's totally downplaying the horrors that Jews(and others) faced in those camps. I'd expect more outrage over her comments.

On the contrary she’s getting a lot of cover from the liberal media which is not surprising. The depths we have fallen to when such a nutcase can seem to do no wrong in the eyes of so many in the upper echelons.

She says a lot of stupid stuff but like a broken clock twice a day actually makes some sense once in a while. This concentration camp analogy however, is more than a stretch, is hurtful to many and of course calculated to damage Trump. And she seems to revel in the attention whether positive or negative.

I'm not about to say she's right, because it just a really terrible comparison. If she'd said internment camp, or even POW camp, I doubt anyone would have given much grief.

Part of me thinks she knew better, but went with it for effect. Maybe she is just that dumb though.

What you and the leftists don't seem to understand is I conceded long ago that Trump is as despicable as you claim. Not an impeachable offense. It also doesn't change the fact that he's not running the country into the ground. I don't support Trump the man. I support the office of the President. He was fairly elected. Despite all the cries from the left, nothing has shown his election was unlawful. He won. Look back and read my posts if you want, I've continuously said the way to unseat him is to win in 2020. I stand by that. But if the left continues to focus more on the idea of impeachment than how to win in 2020, they're shooting themselves in the foot.

I don't think I've given you much flak. And in a way I was both making a joke and preempting the charges of hypocrisy.

I don't mind the prospect of having both the investigating and the unseating in 2020... He's gonna do what he does in the meantime, and he is in a good position to be reelected if he has it in him. I personally don't believe he does, but maybe he can mix it up a bit.
