i was just posting the sentiment i have seen many people express in these uniform threads.

it was a harmless post.
Dude, you've been around here long enough that you don't need to explain yourself. I enjoy your perspective.

With the early start time, I know that there will be insufficient time, but it would be great if Coach Majors could regale Team 117 with stories of the many big games that Tennessee won in the 1980s and early 90s while clad in the all orange look.

I don't care if they come out in Orange tutus as long as they beat Spurrier and Carolina. I think the whole state of Tennessee wants to win this game after that Georgia game.

That would be zero since they never wore the all orange in the early 90s.

I like the idea. Why else would Butch have the all orange combo shot as one of the uniforms in the preseason photoshoot if he wasn't going to have the team wear that combo once this season?

Thanks for the correction. We had big road/neutral site victories, while clad in orange road pants, against Arkansas in 1990 and Notre Dame in 1991, but we did not break out the all orange look during the final years of Majors' tenure.

Maybe it's me, but since the color navy is such a big part of the apparel that we wear, I kinda wish we would have a navy jersey. I'm big on tradition, but at the same time I don't mind having a jersey that we wear once a year or so. If we wear a navy jersey maybe we can pay homage to the great tradition of the Vol Navy by putting "Vol Navy" on the front of the navy jersey.

UT broke out the orange on orange with orange cleats for the 1986 Bama game. That didn't go too well. I think UT next wore orange on orange without the orange cleats for the '88 Bama game.

I think after that they were put away until the 1999 Memphis game.

I like it. Another uniform for the recruits to see and get excited about. That's what matters

Now let's go whip da azz

i don't know how often they wear all orange, but this wasn't a bad day for the vols.

I was at this game my junior year and plan to watch this next Saturday before the 'Bama game and relive some memories (actually more like retrieve some excellent memories I had forgotten). We finally broke a major losing streak against the Tide and the campus went insane. I am married to a GA dawg and have lived in Central Florida for 20 years with a daughter that may very well end up a traitor gator. I say this to help explain what once would have been unthinkable-- saying thank you to a gator for the video. As to the topic, there is never enough Big Orange!

Thanks for posting...was there in the student endzone row 3 and THIS is my favorite game of all time. Goalposts were marched up and down the strip all night.

Loved seeing Johnny on the shoulders, with bear slinking off with a loss on his last visit to Rocky Top.

Orange on orange...bring it!

I doubt you could get away with it these days with the new facilities and heightened sense of security/paranoia for the last decade and a half, but my favorite memories of the goal posts have nothing to do with a game-- though watching them come down that day was AWESOME.

The stadium after hours was a great place to sneak in a date, make out on the 50 yard line, share some illicits, climb the goal posts, throw frisbee on the field (not necessarily in that order) and eventually get run off by a guard... harmless, but fun

Enough old fart memories.... time to come back to the present and get ready to make some new memories this afternoon with a turning point win against the 'ol ball coach
