The past few years, there have been more than 5 selected to the first team...which is stupid but becoming a common practice it seems. My choices would be, in no particular order, KCP, Henderson, Holloway, O'Bryant, McRae. If you gave me the same amount as last year (9), I would add Stokes and Turner and then 2 of Pressey, Releford and Sullivan (leaning towards Sullivan being the odd man out). Stokes has improved tremendously but definitely has been up and down this year.

What would your all-sec first team look like?

if you could pick 9 guys, none of them would be gators?

Haha. That is odd, isn't it? Best team in the league and zero representation. I think that is more of a testament of how evenly balanced the Gators are. One player doesn't really stand out, both in watching them and on the stat line. They have four players in the top 30 in scoring...Boyton 14, Rosario 15, Murphy 17 and Patricia Young 30. Patricia is 14 in rebounds and 4 in blocks. Wilbekin is second in assists and 13 in steals. I guess if I included a gator it would be Wilbekin followed by Patricia. But I didn't and I will stand by that (but probably not a solid prediction)...I doubt they will get snubbed.

Stokes isn't all SEC. I wish he was.

i hate to sound corny, but there's more to the game than just statistics.

so, as an example, i know henderson will probably be on the all-sec team. heck, he might be sec player of the year.

but, scoring 20 a game because you will chuck it from anywhere does nothing for me. especially, when he can't do anything else. he shouldn't be on an all-sec team.

The league has some great big men. You had Noel, but even without him you still have Stokes, Cauley-Stein, Patric Young, Erik Murphy, Johnny O'Bryant III (Johnny Basketball anyone?), Oriakhi, and Laurence Bowers.

IMO the best of the bunch (not counting Noel) is O'Bryant. He's the most complete player. I've watched all those guys play and he impressed me the most. Dude is an animal.

Just my humble opinion.

I have to agree with this, the only Ole Miss player that should be on the team is Holloway

I agree that the game of basketball isn't all about statistics. But I think you would agree that no one is going to get picked for the All-SEC team simply because they set good ball screens, run the pick and roll well, or have a high basketball IQ. There are many good basketball players out there that make their teams go and don't stuff the stat line...but they aren't going to be regarded as all-conference. The criteria that they use is predominately statistic related and I don't see them ever going away from that, in any sport.

Somebody from Florida deserves to be on there. No matter how balanced they are. Don't know who but one should make it.

McRae POY

I could get on board with this, almost identical to mine. I just can't see Henderson not being on there. Hate the guy, he is a complete ball hog. But he leads the league in scoring so I would be surprised if they snubbed him.

FWIW, AJ Johnson lead the SEC in tackles this year in football and he was not on any first team all sec lists

Agreed. It was an oversight for sure.

Yeah I understand. If you just go by names. Not many players on the team stand out but I think since they were the top of the SEC the committee will put a player on there. My guess is Murphy

Understood. I will say that comparing tackles in football and scoring in basketball is a bit apples to oranges, but I get your point.

Marshall Henderson is not all that impressive to me. The guy has shown his immaturity often through the season and his stats are not that great.

He's shooting 37.8% with nearly 450 shots attempted and more turnovers than assists (56-50). His scoring is very inconsistent and he doesn't really contribute any other way on the floor.

Curious of peoples take on SEC POY. Do you think McCrae has a legitimate chance of winning that honor? Would be tough not to give it KCP probably.

Regardless of who any of us think it should be, Mcrae, Stokes and Mcbee should all get looks.

Am I right or am I right?
