All-SEC team predictions

Not knowing how many makes it difficult, should be 5 on each of the teams IMO. McRae no doubt should be, and I think stokes has been thr best big in conference play, only guy averaging a double double in league play.

If it's only 5 that makes it tough. I would say: McRae, O'Bryant, KCP, Rosario/Murphy (still can't pick one.) and maybe Pressey? Holloway has been good too but hard to remove anyone. Might swap him and Pressey.

POY is between the first 3 for sure.

I say: McRae, KCP, O'Bryant, Pressey and Murphy as 1st team.
and Stokes, Golden/?, Rosario, Holloway and Wiltjer as second team.

I did not put Henderson because he is a massive punk and he shoots a ton and actually has a very mediocre FG%...

And the reason I added Rosario if for no other reason you have to notice what he did against Tennessee in the first 7 minutes of that game...

Marshall Henderson is not all that impressive to me. The guy has shown his immaturity often through the season and his stats are not that great.

He's shooting 37.8% with nearly 450 shots attempted and more turnovers than assists (56-50). His scoring is very inconsistent and he doesn't really contribute any other way on the floor.

Curious of peoples take on SEC POY. Do you think McCrae has a legitimate chance of winning that honor? Would be tough not to give it KCP probably.

My thoughts exactly on Henderson.

The SEC POY has to be a 3 legged race between McRae, KCP and O'Bryant...

The thing McRae has going against him is consistency from the very beginning. KCP and O'Bryant have been very consistent. But if they go with the hot hand they have to go with McRae.

Not bad. I'd put Releford over young for second team. Also drop boynton to HM and put some UK guy in. Maybe Polythres (sp?)

I actually had Releford over Young until the last minute because of their team's relative success. Then I looked at their individual numbers, and was more impressed with Young's. But, you could make a case for either.

Boynton was preseason SEC POY in some eyes, and combined with Florida's balance and success, I don't think that will be forgotten by voters. Nobody from UK was deserving (other than Noel who I left off because of missing so many games), at least not deserving enough to bump anyone I included IMO. Now, a UK player likely makes it on here somewhere, and someone I have will get bumped, but that will be because of the UK bias amongst the media.

Poythress has played like just another player. He won't make it. Doesn't deserve to anyways

Just tough for me to see UK not get anyone into the top 3 teams of the SEC. Maybe they will though. They seem to be the poor man's Florida this year without Noel.

If I'm basing who from UK deserves to make it post-Noel injury, it's probably Willie Cauley-Stein.

Yea I'm probably biased as a UT fan because I don't think he's played well against us ever. Young has been benched at times though he's playing well now. Just think Bama is better than arky and Releford makes them go. That being said, your list is rock solid. If it went that exact way I would have no argument what so ever.
:hi:

Cauley Stein was just too irrelevant pre-Noel to give him recognition. IMO anyway.

Thanks. I'm definitely not advocating WCS make the team. I just think if we are going to justify a UK player making, he is as deserving as anyone after Noel's injury.

When I looked again, I had transposed the stat lines for Releford and Young. When I was looking at Young's line, I thought it was Releford's, so I changed it back to my original opinion.

Releford 2nd team
Young 3rd team

I've seen Goodwin as a potential Freshman of the year in the SEC. If that's true, he would have to make one of the teams for sure.

Double double in SEC PLAY. I think he is. His big games this year are against SEC opponents.

Stokes can stake his claim to the All-SEC team with a big performance vs. Mizzou tomorrow and their formidable front line. If he plays well and dominates down low, he's a definite All_SEC selection. If he does not play well, he will have to wait until next year for All_SEC honors IMO
