All the guessing on UF and Coach UM...

I think he will definitely go to the NFL.... Half the work schedule, the same pay, and can be the pioneer of the spread offense to the NFL...

 Where did you hear this? I've always heard the exact opposite. That NFL coaches work much longer hours and more days a year than college coaches.

But speed at RB and especially the OL is also in play... it's not like just the LB's are better in the NFL... I was a doubter that it would work in the SEC, but was clearly proven wrong. So now I think that it could work in the NFL. And that aside, he would clearly want to be the one to try and install it, if solely for the sake of being the pioneer.

I honestly don't think you are giving the defenses under Urban Meyer enough credit. Yes, of course his spread offense has been very effective. However his defenses have been nasty!

Yeah, that's all Charlie Strong. If his wife wasn't white, he would be a head coach by now.. JMO

Everything I have heard is that it is much more of a 10-12 hour job rather than 15-17.... Just think about how much time college coahces have to spend on recruiting...

Exactly. NFL coaches work more and it's not really close.

Ask Steve Spurrier how treating the NFL as a 10 hour a day job worked out for him.

So I should just assume that the only reason a coach does bad in the NFL is b/c he only works 10 hours a day?? Your logic makes no sense... There were many reasons why Spurrier did not succeed in the NFL, and I don't think any of them had to do with him not wanting to put in the time (that happened once he came to South Carolina)...

I know that Fulmer put in an average of 15-17 hours a day... It is not possible for someone to put in more hours IMO... Many nights he slept at the office, as did his assistants.

Coach leaving after signing a contract = coach leaving after signing a contract.

The biggest difference is Meyer's piddling buyout (from what I understand), which would make it very easy to leave.

Phil getting kicked to the curb following another losing season after he signed a contract is not remotely the same as Meyer willingly leaving a thriving program to seek more money or new challenges.

You see, in these two scenarios, one would be choosing to leave while the other is not. If you will give me your address, I can mail you a diagram or chart if it will help.

Which makes it easy for Meyer to leave, no? Maybe you need to draw me a diagram...

Let's review. Didn't say he wouldn't leave someday.

What I am saying is comparing Phil's departure to any possible departure other than Meyer's unwilling one is apples & Oranges. Apples and Oranges are different kinds of fruit ya know.

Agreed. Fulmer lasted 16 years; though many of us feel that was about 10 years too long. Corch Meyer will never see that at UF.
