All things STOCKS

It looks to me like, in my total ignorance, some people are trying to manipulate RKT again into a gamma squeeze. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking at. I couldn't find anything about it yesterday on WSB. There are people offering to buy calls for every strike up to $62, as high as I see, including the ones expiring in 2 days. There are 4000 contracts open interest at the maximum strike price offered, expiring in just 2 days. FWIW. 5900 contracts open interest for next week.

Scared me enough that I bought my short calls back. Maybe I'll get a free car here in a day or two, we'll see.

I was just saying to some guys at work, they're not going to stop until somebody makes them. Unfortunately they're distracting themselves from RKT, ha ha.

With the recent pullback, I was thinking about going in a little on ARK. She manages several ETFs -- do you guys like the Genomic Rev (ARKG) or any of the smaller ones, or would you just stick with ARKK?

Would’ve said genomics before the huge ARKK pullback. She’s loaded so heavy in Tesla, it will go as TESLA goes. She is dropping a space/vertical lift ETF soon. That would be a great set it and forget it play, I’m guessing.

Someone may have asked you, but as a doc, what do you think of Clover’s model?
It's a little hard to comment on without personal use, because I can't tell how much control the system has over providers' decision-making, treatment plans, medication selection, etc. It would drive me nuts if my EHR was constantly telling me what to do. However, if it only gently guides towards cost-saving options which can be easily overridden when deemed appropriate, I'm all for saving money.

I personally went with ARKG. But I don't sell stocks.. only buy. So I'm in for 10+ years unless market conditions change dramatically.

A few weeks ago in an interview she said that genetics probably has the most upside. So I bought some ARKG (near the high, sigh).

Then later I heard an analyst make a good cautionary point. You know how people always talk about nuclear fusion being ten years away? Well, genetics is like that, only it's five years away. So closer, but one can't really say we're on the doorstep.

Anyway, it may be a number of years before some of these companies take off.

Huh, I owned WorldCom and JDS Uniphase. Wish I had sold both before ---

I almost took a job offer working in audit for Arthur Andersen in Jackson, MS after I graduated. Their biggest client: Worldcom

I then realized I would be living in Jackson, MS and declined the offer.

Same. I try my best to only buy companies I'll want to own for 30 years, at least with the bulk of my investment accounts.

I'd say around 5% of my portfolio is "fun money" as was stated above. But even then, I'm hoping those lottery tickets hit and I never have to sell them.

My goal is to have a very comfortable retirement while also leaving my kids a big slice.

I'm currently in ARKQ because I like the holdings and the chart looks primed for a bounce. Happy with the decision so far. I'll likely re-enter ARKK at some point but happy with my current positions.

Why did you own them?
I had a partner in a construction business that was getting thilthy rich working for WorldCom. His exact words were "when alls said and done WorldCom will still be standing". I made a lot of money, but when the fraud at the top came to light I lost about 40k.
Had a lifelong friend who worked for JDSU. He owned $2 million of their stock. Probably had 20k in it. He said he could see things no longer growing, and JDSU was lying to their customers and employees. He lost 3/4 of the investment. I made money, but only because I took profits over time. Dot Com bust. Similar to today.

I know I've mentioned this in the past. My wife (before we met/got married) interned at Enron in 1999-2000. When she left the Company, she had accumulated some stock and bought a Pontiac Sunfire. She claims those were the two worst investments in her life.
