Your mother called and said to get off the computer and out of the basement and to go study.
You obviously are not ready for your "
History of Vols Football" final.
Should be a required course for all majors, by the way.

Roland James is the best cornerback ever to play at Tennessee. Berry missed a lot of tackles and overran many plays. Roland was spot on all the time and form tackled like no one else. Had his share of ints also (7, one year)

That is your opinion and I respect it; however, you will find plenty of people, young and old, who agree with me. This argument will never have a definitive answer, but I believe that the current SEC athlete is bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than those of yesteryear. Again, that fact does not take away from the greatness of players like Lauricella or Majors, what they accomplished back in the day is just as important as what happens today.

Sure they are. Of course, back in the day, players also played both sides of the ball. They weren't allowed to rehydrate, they were discouraged from weightlifting, distance running was considered ideal, and everyone knew that nothing was better than steak, with a side of steak, and a glass of steak on the side.

If you're going to basically drop guys from 60 years ago into the present day and say they couldn't compete, then you're getting into murky territory. It's the same territory that says that a poorly-organized street gang would slaughter the Roman legions, simply because one has automatic firearms and the other doesn't.

I'd take Clausen any day of the week over Bray.

Chuck Webb should be on there too.

Chuck Webb may have been the best ever at UT. No way to tell since his career was so short.

Dale Carter, Terry Fair, Little Man Stewart, Hayden, Garner.... Wow. We have had some rock stars in Knoxville. Too many to narrow it down to 2-3 at each position!

As much as I like Hardesty he shouldn't even be mentioned when names like Cobb, Garner and Stewart are left off. Hell, I'd have Stephens or Graham ahead of Hardesty. Then of course there's Webb, who I'd argue was better than any of them.

Other posts since the OP have shored up some of the obvious misses but did I miss it or has William Howard not been mentioned by anybody yet? He wasn't just a good FB he might even be my starter at FB.

The only other name that I think simply has to be mentioned somewhere but I didn't notice being listed by anyone is Keith DeLong at LB.
