Interesting that this airline has given us a distinct advantage recruiting central and southern Florida over some of our other SEC rivals (Ga, SC, Aub, Bama, ECT.)

This airline runs from Knoxville to many places in florida like Fort Meyers, Orlando, Tampa Bay and Fort Lauderdale. The tickets are only 50-100 dollars.

This has supposedly really opened a door for our staff and they are using it bigtime to sell it to the kids on taking visits and letting them know their parents will be able to get up and see them play alot for cheap if they do choose the VOLS.

Very awesome that our staff with all of our disadvantages in recruiting can find a loophole to create an advantage and use it in our favor.

Hopefully we see us start to land some Florida players like Paul, Buie, Therenzie, ect.

GO VOLS!

From what I can tell, they have the $50-$100 teaser fares...getting one of them when you need it is a different matter however. Additionally, they charge you a fee for most everything...like actually having a seat, etc. :hi:

We use Allegiant when we go cruising or to a FL beach. It is incredible. Yeah they have extra charges for luggage and all, but you can live out of one bag for a weekend. Definitely would make a good pitch to recruit's parents.

Cheaper and more convenient to just use a regular airline imo.

You don't need luggage for a weekend trip to Knoxville...

Well whatever the stipulations it seems to be working as a selling point to underprivalged FL HS football players.

My buddy fly's to Knoxville from Orlando all the time...the Stipulation is that you have to fly during the week and not the weekends....and you have to pay for your bags..

But I have seen flights for 19.99 and 29.99....They have some awesome deals but I live in Nashville and I would have to drive to Chattanooga or Knoxville to use it....

But great for UT!!!

We use Allegiant quite a bit,,, the airline is a good one which is surprising for the money,, tickets usually average about 75.00 each way. Schedules are limited, but it is definatley workable for the money.

Gotta think about it from a poor families standpoint.

If their child is set on leaving the state to play ball, it is much easier for them to get a super cheap flight straight to Knoxville then drive up to small town like Athens, Auburn, or Tuscaloosca where flights are super expensive to get you there.

It is a good thing for us!

I use Allegiant every time I travel to Knoxville. Only drawback is they only travel that route 2-3 times a week (one is usually a weekend). Even if you pay every extra charge on Allegiant, the direct flight will be cheaper than the multi-layover flights of US Air and Delta.

only wish K-town could pull in Southwest and the town would almost explode. the addition of a decent business airline would help Knoxville out a bunch. Even a multi day commuter flight to Nashville to catch SWest there would be a help.

Back to topic, Allegiant is less than gas money to Athens, so the airline is a great thing for college kids and families down here.

I agree with your name. You're crazy if you think a "regular" airline is cheaper. Not often more convenient either.

Also flies in and out of tri-cities(Bristol). This also gives families other options if the knoxville flights are full

You can get the seating fee waived, if you don't book online, but book at airport.

Delta is the one that keeps driving low fare airlines out of Knoxville.

Sorry. The other one kept "mysteriously" disappearing during the daylight hours. I don't have any idea who could be behind that...

Really? How often do you fly? I travel for business and have a personal item and carry on everytime-most times I have a checked bag as well. To fly on allegiant I have to burn one, and sometimes two weekdays to fit into their wacky schedule. On top of that if something happens to the one flight that day, I'm screwed because I can't just jump on the next one like I could with delta or someone else. There are more considerations to the cost of a flight than just the ticket price.

I fly about 50,000 miles a year. Not a great deal but about 1 out of every 10 days. The only airline I refuse to fly is American. My beef with Delta is really my beef with idiot Knoxvillians who fly Delta over low cost carriers and when the low cost carriers skip town because of lack of business Delta tripples their fares again.
The only advantage over Allegiant air is the schedule, but you really have to be pressed for time for that to matter.

I can understand you position as a knoxvillian-I live in a city with a major airport so it's a completely different discussion from our ends.
