I think when we go out and recruit and tell these kids "we need you" they are seeing the living proof that we don't have the talent we thought we had, so maybe that's the silver lining.

It's not that I want to see hits diminished but he's just a kid out there playing for an education. What good does a life long injury do him? If you want to see stupid rules, look at defenders putting their hands up to bat the ball down and accidentally touching the QB's head. Or getting knocked to the ground and basically crawling to the QB to stop him from throwing an accurate pass. Those penalties are stupid. I'm all for defending defenseless players from taking helmet shots though.

Some folks look at Gordon's hit on Lattimore as dirty too. Where do you draw the line before you take hitting out of the game.

I won't write him off until I can see what he can do. Cincy couldn't even sell 30,000 tickets and he got them to 10 wins. He can definitely be successful here.

no one is taking hitting out of the game - the Elam hit tonight didn't even get flagged. We are nearly at half time and there have been plenty of big hits and so far there has only been one flag.

I dont like florida.. however I do hope the win.. a loss against a big east team would just be embarrassing for the conference.. its bad enough that LSU lost to an ACC team

That was just bad luck. It was a clean hit and the hits were simultaneously. They hit him at the same time. I get that the game is fast but those were clean hits with two guys hitting him at once. Elam's hit looked like it could have been avoided. And I won't even give a free pass to some of Berry or Janzen's hits. I liked them but it doesn't exactly make them all right. You have to know that some of those helmet shots are intentional. You can usually tell when a player is helmet hunting and when it's accidental. Refs might not when they throw a flag but you can tell.
