If you're running forward what do you lead with? How can you lead with your shoulder & not make contact with your helmet not to mention you can't control what moves the other guy is gonna make or what position he will be in when you make contact.

He flattened the runningback head on. Elam dove head first at a guy already on his knees. There is a rule for hitting defenseless receivers. If they're looking behind to catch the ball, you can't lay them out. Why would it be okay to spear someone helmet first on their knees?

By the way, running full speed helmet to helmet is probably worse than a UFC hit. So you're right, I'm stupid for comparing the two because helmet to helmet full speed to a defenseless player on his knees is worse. Why do you think they shortened kick returns?

It is obvious you have never played football, and have no idea the speed the game is played, you have no control over helmet to helmet 99% of the time. Half the time it is the ball carrier's fault that it is a helmet to helmet hit. You have .5 sec. to see the ball and deliver the hit, if you miss then you just gave up "maybe" a touchdown dive, and let your whole team down.

Do you understand that you have less then .5 sec to react to that, your only job is to stop the ball carrier, and if it turns in to helmet to helmet, then so be it.

THAT IS WHY THEY GIVE YOU A HELMET!!!!

And for you compareing UFC to college football?????? Wow.......I guess you have never been punched in the face eather, because I would take 100x helmet to helmet hits, then a punch to the face.
