Remember, some SEC fans on here were silent. It's not all of us.Whoa, I figured SEC fans would be a little more knowledgeable on your competition. Air Force has been a much better football team then Navy in the past couple decades. We compete with much better teams then Navy ever faces. The last three years they have gotten some fluke wins over us but it had been a very long time since they beat us before then. Air Force owns Navy!
That hiding the playbook stuff worked in 04 when it was simplified... but we simply switched up between Ainge and Schaeffer, employing polar opposite offensive styles. What concerns me is Harrell AND McBride the power rushers they are, can they be disciplined and patient....and read the qb and contain? As far as showing the Gators too much, I used to be one of those types to hide a playbook from opponents. But heres the thing. An offense that executes a play well is hard to defend even if you know whats coming, so I say open it up, the more reps the better. Its more important that the offense knows what its doing and is comfortable with the plays...than it is to hide the option of it from the opponent, IMO.
idk, Navy has impressed me over the last couple years. Their 4th quarter drive vs. New Mexico a couple years back is still one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.Whoa, I figured SEC fans would be a little more knowledgeable on your competition. I'd actually like to show some things... give them a try before throwing it at UF. IMO, if we execute, it doesn't matter if Florida has seen us do it before or not.
AF may be a military academy, but they are by far the best of the three.
i'm not going to disagree with you LG, but you got to remember, it's been the better part of two years since we've seen a performance like that...and after last season, and all the off season prognostication and pontification of all the areas we had/have questions marks, seeing them come out and play a near flawless game was pretty astounding. I don't think anyone thought even in best case scenario we'd handle CAl the way we did. I would venture to say that they looked better than any/all best expectations.I don't know about overlooking AF. I mean, you would have to really stink up the joint something awful to lose that game.
But I will say that I am just astounded at some of the posting going on here after the win versus Cal. It was a great win and you showed tremendous potential. Very exciting, yes.
But now people are openly wondering about Ainge for Heisman? Complaining that you didn't jump far enough in the polls (what, 11 spots is too little a move up all at once, in the first week of the season?)
Some folks need to grab on to some reins of reality here. Hey, don't get me wrong, you may beat Florida by 30. You might make the Georgia squad run away like litle girls. But it was one game and you got a long way to go before folks rightfully start getting this carried away.
