Alright Duke fans...

I'm no Redick fan, but he was POY by almost everyone with an award. He single-handedly made Duke a NC candidate. S Williams was a beast, but he ain't the reason they sat atop the polls a lot or won the ACC.

i don't deny his shooting ability either. That's all he had though. Scheyer is very dangerous behind the arc and yet he can do so much more. If we bring defense into the equation, Scheyer wins by a landslide.

Oh, I'll never deny that Redick was a game-changing shooter, but it was painful to watch him attempt to penetrate or play defense.
more painful than Scheyer? Redick might not touch the top of the box, but he was stronger than he looked and mentally tough. I haven't seen any of that from Scheyer at this point.

redick wasn't nearly that mentally or physically tough as a sophomore. also as for poy awards, one of the biggest awards that year for poy went to morrison, who was only a jr.

sheyer has absolutely no prayer of ever being POY and his defense is mediocre at best. He'll never be asked to defend a decent 2 guard and he'll never be the focus of opposing defenses - ever. Redick, just with shooting prowess and constant movement, made everyone else on that team a more viable offensive player.

Scheyer's already having to cover Paulus's mistakes. He's way more valuable than JJ ever dreamed of on D.

Given the choice I take Redick, lack of athleticism and all. I think Scheyer is pretty worthless too.

I didn't say all of the awards, but the vast majority. Redick was a tough SOB as a sophomore.

For me, bottom line is that Scheyer will never make the impact on the floor that Redick made, ever. It ain't happening and, unless he improves miraculously, he'll not see the NBA hardwood.

Also, having the Landlord underneath made JJ so much more valuable. If Scheyer had a big man it would be a totally different world.

This I agree with, but only because Redick never played any D whatsoever

I'm not calling Scheyer the greatest defensive player on earth by any stretch, but he's clearly a better option than JJ or Paulus at the moment.

redick's D gets abused, but he got his hand on a lot of balls and was better than anyone will give him credit for. He wasn't a good defender, but he was passable. Sheyer is passable as well. Scheyer's length, and length alone, makes him a better defender. His defense doesn't offset the huge gap on offense. Sheyer ain't ever catching up on that end of the floor. Oh by the way, I like Scheyer.

I think everyone that plays for Duke not named Nolan Smith is a toolbag. Don't ask me why I make an exception for him. Call it a man-crush I guess.

I just want to say that so I can maintain my objectivity.

Redick, with limited athleticism and one other viable offensive threat on the floor, still found a way to light up the ACC with every team they played focuses almost exclusively on stopping him. That's impressive in my book.

Henderson is a bad motor scooter as well. He's smooth and just explodes off the floor. he blocked a shot last night and it looked like he was in the air for about a minute.

henderson is running away with the award for my favorite dukie. It's not even remotely close.

I love Henderson cause he popped Hansbrough in the face...:) jk but seriously, Redick is still the man and I follow his "progress" in the NBA. Scheyer will never be the shooter JJ was. His defense isn't great, but his ball handling was widely underrated.
