Alt uniforms HELP!

I'd guess approximately zero benefit. Just because they choose to be photographed in a black jersey means nothing in their recruitment. Check the number of signees for Alabama or Ohio State donning their black jerseys...probably not too many. They seem to be recruiting just fine.

Having said that, I like a good alt Uniform EVERY NOW AND THEN.
See there is where the orange glasses effect your thoughts. Our recruiting isn't near the level of a Bama or OSU, YET. They don't need help signing top level talent, we do. What were our recruiting rankings from 2010 - 2020? What was Bamas?
They were winning, we weren't, until we get a decade or so of consistently winning, we need recruiting help and Atl uniforms do that.

Hating the blue is disrespectful toward Pat. Disrespecting Pat is an immediate turn in your VFL card or public tar and feathered with crimson colored feathers offense.

Your choice....
I'm just partial to orange and white. I seem to recall that Pat was, too.

The blue as highlights is one thing. All blue just doesn't feel like Tennessee.

Anyway, my opinion isn't really important, so enjoy.

Summit blue has been around a long time. It was on both men and women's basketball uniforms as an accent when I was young, but called columbia blue then. Now it's a tribute thing towards Pat Summitt because it is different. I like it and would be fine with it replacing gray in women's sports.

When can we see the men’s basketball and football teams wearing the Summit Blue to honor Pat? Why not? We already wear burnt gray and black uniforms.

Remember back in 2014 when Dave Hart thought this was a good idea?

UT quietly made the change on its website. All Tennessee women and men's sports teams, with the exception of one, will now go by the 'Volunteers'.
One of the worst decisions made by a UTAD. Bet he didn't contact the College of Business to discuss branding value. Coca-Cola might have shared their experience in that vein as well.

Lady Vol stands for more than just UT women's sports in my book. A belief in excellence. At least that is how I raised my girls.

So it bothers you when the football team pays a tribute to Pat for the one game a year? It’s a recent tribute but still that is happening.
Yes. It looks tacky as hell on a football uniform and we don't have to have a gimmick for every week of the season. Black Uni and Smokey Grey are more than enough. Don't have to wear an ugly ass football uniform to honor Pat Summitt. Plenty of other ways to do that.

They are doing the other ways, which his honoring. Sleeves, wrist bands etc. to honor a legend to not only Tennessee but sports. Good that you’re cool with it as long as it’s not a uniform. The day will come where the all Summitt Blue will make an appearance in Neyland.

You're probably the same type that complains about the black uniforms because "Tennessee's colors are orange and white, not orange and black" but thinks this would be fine lol

Hmm. You got all of that after me endorsing the Summitt Blue. Kind of a reverse flex by you after stating we have more than enough gimmicks. I don’t believe honoring Pat Summitt is a gimmick, but that’s just me. I like the black, indifferent about the gray for the record.

Luckily, they’ve never worn it on a football uniform. They’ve worn blue compression sleeves and wristbands for homecoming the last three years. Jersey and pants have remained the same.

What’s the word on potential alt uniforms for the 2025 season? Hopefully some sort of throwback .

Difference is the black actually looks good on a football uniform

One last year of a new Smokey Grey design, heard it might have a military theme. Everything else stays the same.
Smokey Grey’s for Oklahoma I’m guessing ? With it being in November that could make sense.

ETSU or UAB, if I had to guess. Dark Mode for whatever game is announced as a night game in the preseason. Likely MSU or Arkansas.

I gotcha, i figured it would make sense with OU close to Veterans Day, and it being a big game.

I guess it's cool, but I've noticed UT is getting more and more away from good old Orange and White, led by new coaches and the baby blue for women's sports. I don't mind a little black piping for football and basketball, and maybe a little accent baby blue for the women's stuff, but it looks like someone's moving us from the colors we grew up with and are our true colors--the Orange and White...just sayin'.

Queue the obligatory 'I don't care what they wear as long as they win...yada yada'

I don't mind alternate uniforms as much the sports with more games. Men and Women's Basketball, baseball, and softball have way more games so wearing alternates and all isn't as big of a deal to me. Plus SG already works for away baseball and softball uniforms.

Football I'm more kinda iffy on it. I don't mind them but you have much less games and teams like Oregon and Oklahoma St. I think are ridiculous when they wear some wildly different looks every game.

I think we do it pretty well here for football; Most games we're orange/white and white/white, with 1 all orange and one white/orange and then 1 SG and 1 Black. And we don't mix and match the alternates. If we ever get to where we start wearing the alternates more than the regular orange and white then yeah I'll start to not like it.
