Alternate uniforms, NIL and recruiting

There is NO single factor that trumps all others... for all recruits.

Every recruit is different and will look at an offer through the lens of what THEY personally value.
Yes, that's why coach's try to keep the relationship good at the end of a losing recruiting battle. Because over a year a young recruit will often change his mind and see the little extra cash doesn't mean as much as a place he initially had a great vibe about. Always keep the door open. Also it may be closer to his family friends a lot to consider and teenagers can change from week to week.

No doubt other factors come into play and I didn't mean to imply that. I'm just saying money is the primary factor now and at least 2 head coaches have said that publicly.
The programs they run aren't known for being recruiting powerhouses to begin with. It's a new scapegoat for people.

This all day! I have this conversation on a regular basis. Prost people say winning and money are what matters. While those are most likely the two biggest factors, it does not mean others don’t come into play. The “others” would be like your jobs benefits and extras. It all matters and is way deeper than most people think.

GO VOLS!!!
Unfortunately many of the guys playing sports in the society we live in, are only interested in the money.

Can no longer he considered amateur sports as its play for pay now. NIL is BS. You see very few Commercials, jersey sales, endorsements etc of college football players yet everyone is getting paid.

I think Alt unis have more to do with the company providing the unis than what players want. Alt unis for players means alt merch in the store for fans to buy.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the deal with Nike requires us to wear gray and black at least once per season.

I never thought uniforms were ever the primary factor, to be trumped. Money has always been there, even before NIL. NIL is just a way to mask it, and its original intent is so players could get paid if their image is on a video game box. There are many factors in a player’s decision, but for the good ones it’s “can this team/staff get me to the league,” and winning brings the most attention.

Yes it can. lol. Its basically the Olympic model. the University isn't paying these players. They getting money off of who they are.

Yep. That's what the pay for play crowd wanted, and that's what they got.

I just wonder what folks are gonna do when Texas and its armada of billionaire boosters get serious about it.

Hubris and ego will keep Texas at bay for the most part. Also, have to consider the motivations of a kid wanting to be in Austin... more distractions than most college towns.

The issue is that, as of now, there is literally no ROI. We all have seen where A&M's $30 million investment got them. I don't think even billionaires will continue to cut checks without results.

One of the reasons given for alternate uniforms is that it helps in recruiting and that may be true.
But at least two head coaches have implied that NIL money is the primary factor now.

Both Mark Stoops and Chip Kelly have publicly stated same.

Green trumps all other colors

Money indeed talks and is the king of all colors.
