These jerseys say ...
"We're not trying to make a statement with flashy jerseys. We'd rather make a statement with what we do while wearing them."
And I like that.
But I have to admit that the pic they chose could've been better!
Who went to the BBQ, and how was it?
Why not go old school and put a white U and an orange T that interlock together on the left side of the uniform and the player number on the right hand side?
Just my thoughts..........
Not a big fan of any of UT's baseball uniforms since the interlocking UT went away.
The Power-T does not look right on baseball caps or jersey. It does not have the traditional feel of NY (Yankees, Mets, Giants) StL, LA. the 'T' is not just a a balanced look. This is also why Florida Gator logos are even worse. The 'F' is even more unbalanced and the Interlocking UF is even worse looking.
I remember the sleveless jerseys that UT rolled out for NCAA play (I believe in 1994) Those were different and cool.
I thought I read somewhere that we had some kind of battle with the other UT over the interlocking UT, and some sort of agreement was reached.
Am I off base on that DP?
GBO!
Back in the early 90's, there was a settlement between the schools that Tennessee could only sell licensed gear with an interlocking "UT" east of the Mississippi, while Texas could only sell it west on the Mississippi.
A couple of years later, as national apparel companies like Nike and Adidas stepped in and the internet broke down the physical boundaries of retailing, that settlement really didn't meet either school's needs and both dropped the similar logos entirely. UT went to the Power T, Texas the Longhorn.
Texas had traditionaly used a block "T" on their baseball hats and Tennessee had traditionally used the "UT." Both schools agreed to let this continue for both.
In the last few years of the RodBall administration, they used both the "UT" and the "T" on hats. When Delmonico was fired, Hamilton and the marketing department unified the brand under the Power T.
I agree that it looks bad on baseball jerseys.
