All voices are welcome on Volnation -- but Republicans dominate. This is a Tennessee board, after all.:)

I am normally more in line with the viewpoints of the Democratic party; I am probably going to vote for McCain this election, though.

i am a democrat also. one problem is that people confuse what capitalism, socialism, communism, and democracy are. the republicans are trying to turn this country into a fuedal society with a top 1% and poor 99%. this country prospers the greatest when the working/middle class prospers!

why would you vote for people who are completely against it. why would you vote for a party that pushes socialist socialist ideas such as obama, pelosi, reid.

Because the Democrats are for the working class, and I happen to be part of that class. Another reason is that Republicans piss me off with all the ish that they bring into the campaign. Every election since 1980 has been a referendum on guns, abortion, and church.

Another reason is that my family have all been Dems. My great grandfather, grandfather, and father were/are all Dems.

Now that being said, I will vote for a republican, if I like what they bring to the table(Ron Paul, for example)

I believe that about as much as I believe democrats are trying to make a society where there is the ruling elite and 99% workers for the state.

Your post is ignorant (probably taken from the Huffington Post) and everyone on the board should feel dumber after having read it.

If you really buy into that I feel a great amount of pity for you.

A popular misconception among democrats that their party is for the middle class. They are no more for the average working man than republicans are. The sooner you come to understand that the better off you will be. Both parties are about power first and foremost and will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

And every election over that same period has not been a referendum on the right to choose and a myriad of other issues from the left? (Bot parties are guilty, period!)

I understand your point here, your family has a tradition of being democrat. I personally don't care what my ancestors political leanings were. The same exact things the democrats were for 50 to 80 years ago are the issues they take exception to now.

i don't understand why people think that the modern dem is for the middle class. making people rely on the government is not helping. the best thing the government can do is to get out of the way.

the first bold part, if you really believe that you need to get off the kool aid. funny they are for the working class but yet tax the crap out of you.

the second bold, sorry if you don't go to church or are pro life. plus i don't want someone telling me what i can or can not do w/ my guns.

the third bold, i'm glad to see you made up your own mind. my family is mostly conservatives, but to be honest i look at the issues and see where my beliefs line up.

#1. Yes, maybe, just maybe, they might tax you..................If you make over $250,000 a year.

#2. I don't go to church, because I dont need a preacher to give me his opinion on the Bible. I can do that on my own. To me, this is one hypocritical part of the Republican stance. You claim pro life, but will execute a man in a second.

#3. I never made up my mind to be a Dem soley on the fact that my lineage is Dem. I made up my mind to be a Dem, because I agree with them more than I do the republicans.

that always makes me laugh when i hear people say this. "i'm a Christian but i don't go to church because of the evil pastors and all the hypocrites" " i can read the bible on my own, i'll just believe the parts of the bible that makes me feel good"

i'm sure you study the bible everyday. i'll also assume that you've taken old and new testiment classes.

if you think people that make under 250k aren't going to be taxed more, then you really need to take some economics classes.

You know what? Since you inferred, I shall be honest. I don't study the bible every day. As for the classes, I ask my father for anything I don't get.

i'm not trying to be question your christianity, it just kills me when i talk to people who say they are christians or religious but say they don't like to go to church or listen to pastors. if you read the bible any, then you would know that God wants us to go to church and gather with fellow believers.

it's fine, but christians who are serious about living a christian life should attend church. christians need the church to encourage each other. i'm not telling you how to live, i'm just saying what the bible says.
