Am I the only one that gets mad when...

Exactly which player he's guarded in the last couple of games is a scoring threat?

First it's a trick question since there has only been one scoring threat in the last two games UT has played.

With that said, Pearl should be run out of town if JP draws the primary assignment of guarding a legitimate scoring threat.

JP has moved his feet more than the typical swinging arm/cement feet defense he's employed all season.

Maybe he needs to try running the point again. At least we might get more shots off. That's seems to be our strength--throw it up and go get it.

J.P. Prince salutes the crowd when he make's a decent play especially when we're LOSING, or when Hopson makes a layup and begins to swagger and spin like he just hit a game winner? Don't they need to get back on defense?

This team has some serious "ME" issues.

Do you think it’s because they have no identity and EVERYONE is trying to become the identity like Lofton was? The past 3-4 years it's been Lofton Lofton Lofton, and now he's gone, it's like everyone wants that type of recognition and they're willing put their own intrests in front of the teams.

Don't forget Chism pointing to the crowd when he hits a bucket like he just hit his 50th point.

That has pissed me off ever since J.P. started playing for UT. I swear that guy thinks he a superstar. If I were Pearl I would bench his cocky arse for looking up to the crowd, and just standing there after he made a basic dunk or layup. I really just cannot stand the way he plays all around. He is the definition of a ME first guy, who rarely shows any hustle or care. He also provides basically nothing on offense... the guy hits about 1 out of every 20 jump shots he attempts, and he has turned it over while being way out of control on many occasions. It would do nothing but benefit our team to severely reduce his playing time.

I'm OK with it!

i don't really have a problem with showing ego or emotion if thats how they play the game and thats when they are at their best then it shouldn't matter

Anyone that thinks JP hustles, or plays any type of good defense, then they really need to have a x-ray to see if their brain is there. I can't honestly believe that these posters really think this, but if so, it is really just sad.

Technically....It would have to be an MRI or a CAT scan....An X-Ray would only show the skull.

They need to being saluting when they make a good defensive play. Bring the passion to both ends of the court. Defense is about wanting to. Memphis wants to. They know what it takes.

I don't think it's comfort as much as it is the caliber of player.

This is really the first time Pearl has had kids who are expected to be the elite by the public. Prior to TN, Pearl had athletes who were either by-passed by the top tier schools or were a slight step down from the elite players in natural ability. When he first came to TN, our program had sank so low that we had similar players here as what Pearl was used to coaching. These types of players have a tendacy to "want" to play as a team to prove a point. (Rather the point be that the big schools shouldn't have passed on me, or rather it be I'm good enough to play with the top athletes.)

Now, Pearl has built back our reputation so that he has top tier rated athletes, and these kids have been told since they started playing sports that they are the "best." It takes a different caoching ability to coach up a player who knows he is in "the best" category. I think Pearl will get them going, but I also think this is something a little new for Pearl.

That is really a great point. I never thought of it that way. I don't think Pearl likes this kind of crap either, but as a coach you have to kind of tread carefully sometimes. In today's world the old guard like Bobby Knight are done. You cannot hurt players feelings anymore like the old school coaches could. If Pearl got on their a@s they would probably just transfer.

If they will play fundamental ball, I don't care if they do backflips every time they hit a free throw.

I wonder in message boards for the North Carolina team have this much grief, strife, and discontent over streetball and it's lack of fan fuzziness.

I'll take a guy pointing to the crowd, yelling, or popping his jersey versus the "beauty queen wave" Tyreke gave when he got the last rebound. On one hand I was deflated from the loss, but I admit I got a good laugh out of that display.

That was both funny and disturbing at the same time. But, Evans did have 17 points, so that kind of trumps the silly wave.

the only thing that will give you street cred after using that wave on national tv would be to carry out a gang style hit on someone.

Whats worse is that Shawn Taggert follows the wave up by blowing kisses to some Tiger fans as he enters the tunnel. I think the street cred is gone.

Its because Dorsey graduated-mho
