UT fans just enjoy this week. We are playing with house money. Worst case scenario we get blown out by a high powered offense and the #2 team in the country like we are suppose to. Best case scenario we make it a close game and people will start to realize we are on our way back. Miracle scenario win pull out the biggest upset of the year!

The Ducks have one thing in common with the Vols, neither team has been able to beat good SEC teams the last few years.

One of coolest things about being a Vol fan are the memories of the games that we won, that we had no business winning. Notre Dame in 79, the 86 Sugar Bowl, ending the streak in the swamp (I could go on) are all huge upsets that we all still talk about. Realistically, we have no shot today, but I hope to see a memory today.

After watching the Oregon game last week, they are really, really good or Virginia is really really bad.

We can still walk away from todays game proud of our team and our coach. I'm not in to moral victories, but this game might be the exception. Play hard, keep it close for a while, and still be bustin your arse in the 4th quarter. That's a moral victory for me. We're just out-talented on this one.

one thing we will see is how a Butch Jones team responds when it gets punched in the mouth.

that Oregon is really NOT that good? Just QUICK?

You might be on to something. They're probably no. 2 in the country because they are NOT that good. Its just all those uniform changes - kinda like Madonna, she's really NOT that good she's just QUICK at changing clothes.

They have guys who make big plays, and we don't. If we had a bama-like defense, I'd be more optimistic. But, again, we don't. We gave up 400 yards of offense to a pretty pedestrian Western Kentucky team, playing in the comfy confines of home. That's a hint of why we'll have problems in this game against a much better offense.

Oregon is very good. Being very fast is a big part of being very good. They have been good for a while, they still are good. That doesn't mean I don't think UT could shock the world, crazy upsets happen every year, but let's not pretend Oregon is overrated.

Oregon is an awesome football squad. I think today's outcome is less important than most vols fans believe. A winner must first have belief in their own abilities. The process of winning seems to be CBJ's path. Today we will find out who or what our team is really about.

I find the discipline and attention to detail impressive. For example, plane landing at 1:17, no penalties in our first game, and players knowing the positions a sign CBJ has begun the winning process. The fun meter at TN is back due to CBJ. The player enthusiasm and leadership is back due to CBJ. The belief is returning. Small building blocks and solidifying TN's foundation is occurring. We will probably lose today but I am interested in watching the players body language and resiliency.

Today, we can win regardless of the score. CBJ is a winner and our team will flourish after this great opportunity to continue learning how to win.

I love my TN Vols and will give my all for TN today......that is from my couch!

Oregon recruits players who fit in their system. Sure they may not have players that go on to be NFL studs but they recruit phenomenal college football players. Butch Jones is the same way. That is why he was so excited about Josh Dobbs. Anyone who thinks Oregon is not a good college football team has lost their mind. And yes they are extremely entertaining to watch as well.

I'm afraid "you are the minority"...but you have around 4 1/2 hrs to change your mind, after that you'll be the Lone Duck

Am I the only one who thinks...that Oregon is really NOT that good? Just QUICK?

I find it rather odd that any Vol fan would want to perpetuate this idea. Either way you look at it, we don't want anyone believing that the Ducks are not one of the best teams in the nation. Think about it, if the Vols lose, do you want to tell your friends that Oregon was a weak team? How would that make the Vols look? And if we win, do you want to tell your friends, "yeah, we won, but anybody could have beaten them. The Ducks weren't THAT good and neither are the Vols."

If you convince enough people that Oregon is not that good, perhaps the computers will drop Tennessee's strength of schedule component in the ranking function. Do you want that? The way I see it, we should pump up every team that Tennessee faces. UT does not want a reputation of putting creampuffs on our schedule.

If I were you, I'd be shouting from the rooftops that Oregon is awesome (which, by the way, they are) so that no matter what happens, the Vols' performance is not degraded.

Yes. They have heisman candidates at both the qb and rb positions. Mariotta is arguably better than JFF and comes w/o the baggage. Their secondary is nasty as well.

GBO
I call hide the quack here. I have neither seen nor heard any Oregon player mentioned as a top 5 Heisman candidate on any voters list and the only time anyone at Oregon has seen a nasty secondary is when they played LSU, THAT was a nasty secondary, there's never been one in the PAC10 or 12. GBO!
