Is there anyone else on here thats sick and tired of ABC/ESPN talking about "Heisman Candidates" 2 months before the season starts? Just how do you become a Heisman candidate? Is there a special test you take? I thought every player in college football was a candidate??? I wonder what "Heisman Candidate" they give it to this year....another joke that wont ever take an NFL snap.

P.S....I wasnt actually asking these questions to get an answer....I know the answer. Im just being facetious because I despise this Heisman BS.

the heisman has become a national joke, but I think the schools with candidates drive the hype moreso than the networks

OMG i hate it. They had Corso and Desmond Howard give thier top 5 last night.

I could give a big steaming pile of crap what Desomond Howard or even Corso, who is the president of a pencil company by the way, says about the Hypeman.


I would be happier if they totally eliminated this garbage award.

if you honestly think that Woodson deserved that trophy over Manning, then you need to be institutionalized. But on the other hand.....I guess thats why one of them is a washed up has been DB....the other is a 2 time NFL MVP...Super Bowl MVP.....with a 130 million dollar contract and more endorsements than you can count. Yeah....Woodson deserved it.

And even though Troy Smith bombed in his final game, he was great during the season. While I think McFadden probably should have gotten it, Smith did make a great case through 12 games.

I was 6 at the time... I can't really say for sure he was the best. I just hate hearing about how it was the biggest scam in history.

Charles Woodson was a great player at the time. Keep in mind that Heisman is for best college player not best pro prospect. I do think Peyton deserved the award but I'd rather be where he's at today in his career than Woodson. I was more upset with Chris Fowler's comments that year.

P.S. Hey tvolsfan, how did you become a D-backs fan? Just curious, I'm a Dodgers fan, I already know, we stink.

Tennessee doesn't have a baseball team, and I never cared for the Indians or Reds. I liked watching this team, and enjoyed seeing them succeed because they were the new guys... Also helped that I have been to Phoenix and absolutely loved the city.

Fowler described Tennessee fans as "trailer trash" over the Manning vs. Woodson heisman debate. The game day crew got hell when they came back to Knoxville. They had them located far away from the fans and I don't think they like coming to Knoxville now. Speaking of, when was the last time they were there?

That's about the same reason I became a Dodgers fan. I have always lived around Nashville and when I was little I was a huge Darryl Strawberry fan. I was still young when he went to LA so I switched from the Mets to Dodgers and then I got old enough to realize that he was a crack head. He moved on and I just stayed with the Dodgers. Guess, I can thank Strawberry for being a Dodgers fan.

Biggest scam in Heisman history. Johnny Majors was also screwed out of the Heisman.

Manning came in the year as the favorite, lost to Florida again and they blasted him the rest of the year. ESPN had their golden boy in Woodson plus Michigan was undefeated. And the best player on the best team wins the Hypeman.


To me, giving the award to Reggie Bush over VY is almost as ridiculous considering what Vince did in the Rose Bowl. They should hand stuff out after all the games.

I agree with the last part of your post. Reggie Bush seemed deserving all the way to the bowl game. After the Rose Bowl Young would have won by a million votes.

I still think it is ridiculous that so many Vols fans see a great defensive back who carried his team to victory making huge plays throughout the season and lead his team to the national title beating out another QB with large numbers as a personal shot from ESPN and allow it to fuel years of hatred. Get over it. Woodson was a fantastic player.

last nite Corso had Mike Hart from Mich. as his #1. what a joke, if i ran 45 times on penn st. i'd rush for over a hundred yards as well
