I have to disagree with you on this. The War Powers Act and subsequent resolutions allowing the Executive Branch almost unchecked authority to take military action should be repealed.
I was agreeing with her about taking the ability to make foreign policy away from the president and hand it over to Congress . Any president ( no matter the party ) needs to be able to set foreign policy without having to get congress to agree on it .
I also think a senate vote should be required to withdraw from treaties. To a point, congress has to ratify treaties and that should never change.
I like the idea of congress taking back power it has abdicated to the executive branch over the decades. Make them go on record with votes on foreign policy.

I didn’t try (or fail) to do anything. The constitution doesn’t say anything about withdrawing from treaties, and Carter, Bush, and Trump have been able to withdraw in the past. They do if the treaty has been ratified.
I see what you failed to do there.
I see the pros to that but the cons are that if we allow congress to set foreign policy it will end up like our immigration policy and never be changed . I actually think this is one place where POTUS needs to have some room to wiggle a little .

I’m not talking about the nuclear deal, I’m talking about NATO.
I think our immigration policy is a perfect example of why congress needs to take back power. Right now they can hide behind the executive branch and use it as a political football without being held responsible.
Agree to an extent but at the same time they don’t want to do anything but b!tch about it . This is my fear , giving a room full of lawyers and politicians more power scares me more than letting one politician set foreign policy. It shouldn’t be ( I know this ) but it still does . I have zero faith in congress to do anything but b!tch and whine that “ their friends “ on the other side don’t do anything .
Actually, you failed. This has happened before.
