The confederacy was willing to wage war of death and destruction within our own boarders. So, 150+ years later we should celebrate leaders of American insurrection by naming our bases and keeping statues? The statues should not have been erected at the time nor should they stand now. Many of the statues were erected well after the war in what was nothing but holding on to a bad idea. Look, I have the ancestry to register as a son of the confederacy but never will. My ancestors did what they did and I respect them for it but it is long over and needs to be finished.
