America... Greatest Country in the World???

Question, are you saying nationalism isn't a dangerous thing to have?

There's nothing wrong with taking pride in your country. You constantly have this tone and leave the notion that America isn't good and we should all just hang our heads and apologize to the people of the world. I'm tired of worthless people in my country taking that stance.

I'm not saying you can't have some level of pride in your country. Having an unadulterated nationalistic opinion; that your country is the greatest thing to see this planet is what worries me (Aka American exceptional-ism).

Er, nothing wrong with thinking America is exceptional. That doesn't automatically equal oppression.

This country has done more in a shorter period of time than any other that I'm aware of. Sounds exceptional to me.

Why? What in the hell difference does it make to you that people believe what our founders put together here is the best ever?

Why isn't it?

We just have to look to history to see what happens when we start down that road.

I said having a level of pride isn't bad, it is when people take it to the extreme is when it becomes dangerous.

look at history and tell me how many have worked with some level of representation for the people without people believing they could change the world by creating a better system?

The enlightened idea of that everything is equal from every imaginable angle is pure garbage.

In and of itself? Absolutely not.

Can it be exploited? Sure. So can virtually any ideology. Hell, look at what Bloomberg is doing in NYC in an effort to make people healthier - now he's trying to force hospitals to hide formula from new mothers so they'll be more likely to breast feed.

this is not what American exceptionalism means.

Hillary was asked a few years ago if she was proud of America. She said she was proud of what America could be. I am proud of America now and if you aren't then you are a pos.

I guess I'm a pos then. I am less and less proud of America everyday. I was more proud a decade ago than I am now.

I read similar sentiments every day on this board, though for wholly different reasons than Hillary Clinton's.

I looked for awhile for such a quote from her and could not find one.

At any rate, I think it absolutely laughable every time the far right quotes a Dem speaking as to ways in which the country could be even better than it is and spins it as meaning that they are insulting the country.

Kinda like when someone says they want to take back America and libs immediately accuse them of being racist?

The USA is not the Greatest Country in the World? Hmmmm. Millions of illegal aliens can't be wrong.

One thing to consider - what countries have the most foreigners trying to gain citizenship, legally or illegally? The USA has got to be at the top of that list, or close.
