Anyone watching this?

2 contestants from TN representing. A girl from Oliver Springs, Janelle Arthur and a guy from Palmersville, Paul Jolly.

Janelle's been trying to make it on Idol since season 10. I'm glad she didn't give up, because with the popularity of country singers on Idol, The Voice, and X Factor lately, this year may be a good time for her, if the voters haven't grown tired of country (the results last night indicate to me they haven't).

This year's class of girls is loaded though, and she's not the only country girl in the competition either.

Both made it into the top 10.

Yes.

I always watch Idol. So far I don't have a favorite.

I really like Kree Harrison, also Candice Glover has serious talent. She KILLED her victory song.

Also Angie Miller's original song was awesome. She has this weird quiver in her voice when she drops notes I've never heard before.

Angie is probably the one to beat right now. Her social media pages are growing much more quickly than any of the other finalists. She's already approaching 40,000 followers on Twitter. Many of the others have yet to reach 10,000.

She's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

She's awkward at times but then every so often she's entertaining. She really has no concept of how to give someone an opinion. It just kind of comes out of her mouth with an emotionless look on her face.

He should give up on country and go straight up Top 40 pop. Nothing about his voice sounds country (which the Idol judges and Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine have told him, as well).

And Idol has already flooded Music Row with so many country artists that are still trying to get that breakthrough hit (Kellie Pickler, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Casey James, plus they'll have Janelle and Kree in this class...all of whom IMO are much better fits for country than Paul). Country radio will only play so many Idol alums before they'll say enough is enough.

I think the only reason anyone is buying him as country is because he's from small-town Tennessee.

My wife is friends with Kree Harrison. Although she is not originally from TN, she lived in Nashville for a long time.

The last song he sang I heard no hint of country in it.

I think The Amanda chick is gonna win. My fave is janelle.

Janelle is a sweetheart and she's one of the people I'm rooting for but I have heard some pitchiness from her that for whatever reason the judges haven't mentioned. I'm afraid she's going to be one of those contestants that the judges just throw her under the bus all of a sudden. They seem to have one or two of those every year.

How long is America going to throw pity votes at Lazaro is my question?

There are always one or two who get the sympaty votes every year.

True, but sympathy votes alone cannot carry someone all the way to the title. If he doesn't improve immensely very soon, he'll probably hit the wall around top 5 week or so.

The website Vote for the Worst encourages its viewers to vote for the worst contestant on the show.

Do you remember the contestant Sanjaya? He went far during his season on the show and I was like wtf who keeps voting for this weirdo? Well someone told me about the VFTW site so I decided to check it out and Sanjaya was the sites person to vote for.

VFTW is mostly just satirical. I doubt there are enough people actually voting for their picks to affect the results. They're shutting down after this season ends, which probably tells you how much traffic they really get these days...not much.

VFTW site creator Dave Della Terza said he is not interested in keeping up with the site anymore. Terza explained his view that the show is "no longer relevant."

Howard Stern likes to claim responsibility for Sanjaya staying in as long as he did. He would tell everyone on his show to vote for Sanjaya.

Maybe that explains how Taylor Hicks managed to win the thing.
