Here’s some advice from someone much older than you. Unless you end up going to school at UT, find a different team to follow. It will save you years of heartache.

I won’t go as far as this fellow, youngster…but as someone who has loyally followed the Vols, Braves, Predators, and Titans for as long as my 50 something years on this earth would allow me….I think there is a total of 3 win it all championships involved in all of that fandom. I won’t even get into the dollars spent on these teams along the way, but I assure you that a person could buy something pretty nice with it. Once they throw the dirt on my box, if it were possible to ask me if I would take it back, I would undoubtedly say that I would not. Because you don’t regret loving what you love. It’s just like the countless times that people whom you love and will come to love as you hopefully live a long life. They will disappoint you countless times. The only cure for love is embalming fluid. And it’s too late to regret anything at that point. So enjoy the highs and lows, and try not to let it affect the very few truly meaningful things that will actually shape your life.

Good advice, but easier said than done. I’ve tried to renounce my fandom many times over the years, since I was much younger than the OP is now. Never sticks. It’s like my heart is branded with a power T.

Living in Ohio, would that I could just start pulling for the Bucks, but I can’t bring myself to do it. I’d rather continue my lifetime of Big Orange suffering than be a turncoat.

You will learn. I am also a young fan (couple months away from 27 years old), but I’ve seen enough UT football to know the games and opponents we usually play well against and the ones we struggle with. Gainesville is a house of horrors for UT. A loss is disappointing, but not surprising. Our next SEC opponent is South Carolina. That is a team we have dominated at home (18-3 record overall in Neyland against them), but generally struggle with on the road. If we drop the South Carolina game at home, that will definitely surprise me (and it would be a completely unacceptable loss).

It's college football....just don't let a game played by people just a bit older than you rule your week/weekend. There's a lot more to life. Annddd on to hunting season
