An Auburn fans prediction for Tennessee Football 2007

Have you ever seen what USM does to SEC opponents. Beat BAMA. Pushes the rest to the edge. USM could take Cal down, and probably only in second gear.

Cal played southern miss in 2003 and 2004 (back when southern miss was good) and neither game was particurally close.

Yes, you guys spanked them in 03'.

But in 04' you only won by 10, and they finished that year 7-5.

But, Tennessee should beat SoMiss, even though it may be close.

That 04 game was never in doubt. We had a bs holding call in the 4th quarter that would have made the victory look impressive. in reality southern miss was never in the game.

I remember that. There was a long TD run at the end. I can't remember whether the hold was legit or not. Oh well.

You can tell tomorrow's the 100 DAY mark going to be a great year. I like the speed we have commin in think it will be the difference in a few games vs Cal and Fla.

We won't lose to the Gators this year. UGA has a better chance of knocking us off.

of course, i think we will win them all :) , but i feel like the UGA game will be easier to win

IMO, here are the most likely losses for UT in order of probability:

Bama
UGA
Arkansas
UK
USC/Cal
UF
USM
... also rans.

Bama has talent, motivation, and the game is played there.

UGA will be back.

UK probably has the best QB in the conference.

USC returns all but two of the two deep on D.

Cal is a long way and has a motive to prove they aren't the joke they looked like last year.

I don't think UF beats UT without scoring 40+... which could but probably won't happen. Their defense will be young, untested, and thin to start the season. If they become good next year, it probably won't be before the 3rd game. I don't question their talent but defenses that lose 10 starters (several of whom were drafted) plus a couple of lettermen and who will depend on true freshmen to sub on the D line... probably won't fair well.

USM is due but they also play in K'ville against a team that is significantly more talented. UT can't play around with them though.

hey guys, i'm an eagle fan so go easy on me. I have a huge amount of respect for the Vols and always enjoy watching and following your team.

however, I do have a problem with the post that I quoted. Yes we played Cal two times and got beat both times. Cal was a very good team and thumped us good in 2003. That was the year we were good. Actually, Golden Eagle fans will tell you that we have not been good really since 2000-2001 ish. We have been in this streak of 4-5 loss seasons that hopefully will end soon and we played Cal right in the middle of it, so your statement on "back when we were good" was not entirely accurate. And to say neither game was particularly close is wrong too. The '03 game was a blowout in their stadium, but the '04 game was very close. We feel we could have won that game. We ended up only losing by 9 points I believe, and because it was a close game and on national tv, texas was able to pass them in the BCS standings and take the Rose Bowl, leaving Cal with the Holiday Bowl.

As I said, we hope this will be our year (win or lose in Knoxville) that we climb the latter back to where we were at the beginning of this decade. I will be at Ole Rocky Top come September and hope to watch a good hard fought close game.

had Cal not blocked that XP and ran it for a safety, we should have won that game. think what you like.
