an example of the improvement that floored me

Not with Dooley as coach. Convinced the '85 Bears wouldn't have made the playoffs if Dools had been their coach.... only half kidding. Ok, 40% kidding.

Anyway, he's gone now. Thank GOD for Butch.

it was there in the 4th qtr...don't know if it was just conditioning, desire,or a combination, but they were all over Shaw... 7 for 21 is a pretty good stat day for the Defense...and only the one big pass on the 1st play of the 2nd qtr when Coleman got burned...

I also believe that the DL is becoming more disciplined in staying in their assigned lanes and not just rushing the QB out of control.

I just hope they get to McCarron and blast him to kingdom come. He is not as mobile as Shaw and the DLs can take more risks crashing on him. I don't want to see a player injured, but would love for that SOB to end the game with a bloody nose, sore ribs and grass burns all over.

impossible. Martinez sucked a young and inexperienced dc at ga under Richt in '05 so no way he can coach db's under Butch in '13.
If this is true, I'm not sure I trust him around our other coaches or players. The last thing we need is some sex scandal involving the football program. Very disappointed to hear that Richt was involved in this as well.

He posted that for "likes" Similar to those on twitter looking for followers.
I kid, good post, even for a lurker Gator.

Yeah, 99gator is pimpin' for "likes" again.

In all seriousness, in addition to the down-field coverage on some of Carolina's pass plays, Conner Shaw was not able to hurt us with his legs due Tennessee having a "spy" on him most of the day. The most common player in this role that I saw was Brent Brewer.

while it was great to see us contain shaw and their offense like that, remember we had an extra week to prepare, we won't get that against alabubba but we can still beat them into the ground.

Tennessee's defense has come a long way very quickly. It makes me wonder what the heck Sunseri was doing. I know he tried to implement the 3-4 but good lord he was awful.

It makes you think, how many games would we have won last year if we had a defense like this years? Not saying that they are great but we had a lot of close games that we could have won if it wasn't for our defense giving up big play after big play. You can put blame on Dooley for awful coaching or Bray for not ever coming up big but the blame really lies on Sunseri and the Defense. Last years offense was electric and they were capable of putting up some big numbers. Just a thought.

DPF displays the same pioneer spirit found, in the first person to look at a lobster and say "I'M GOING TO EAT THAT THING"....Self issued twss :peace2:

I agree with the OP and other poster's comments on the improvements. I am most impressed with the fact that the team plays the entire game with fire! Last year they gave up too many times imo.

Agree with the OP.

I would also add our conditioning looks much better this season. Not sure anyone has pointed that out.

I agree with the OP, it is signs of a good coach.

Belief is a powerful thing, confidence is a powerful thing.... Team 117 has confidence in themselves and belief in their coaches that when things don't go their way they can still affect the outcome of the game. They believe they are better conditioned than any team they face, you can see that from their comments. So late when others team is winded they are feeding off that knowledge. i.e. the last USCe drive.

Ill admit when Butch punted the last time i doubted that decision big time. The frustration was building as it looked more and more like the Vols were gonna blow another big opportunity.

But, turns out it was a good call considering the offense was struggling and the defense was on a roll.

After we knock off another 2 highly ranked teams this year i fully expect some 'coach of the year' consideration for Jones.
