An Open Letter to Recruiting Watchers

I thought that I posted here often enough for people to get that it was sarcasm---I was deliberately misspelling "moron" as moran to enhance the character behind the letter.

:drive2:

You could've at least spelled it southern style ya mowron

I got it but one question. Why do you have the TN/LSU record on your avatar? That has puzzled me for some time.

to remind LSU trolls of their history before Saban arrived. someone was talking about how LSU has such an amazing history and how they've always dominated us. therefore, I put it up as a friendly reminder of the contrary.

You could have saved bandwidth by typing: "Don't bother me with reality... it is a buzz kill".

I've never said these guys would fail. I never said I wanted Fulmer back.... I said the opposite. What I have said is that this class is much more important than many of you want to believe AND more importantly that UT is at critical mass on the OL. It isn't just quality at this point, they don't have enough warm bodies.

60 days IS enough time to NOT lose Phillips or else to focus on that need enough to sway a replacement to UT. Maybe Phillips will stay. Maybe we'll get a surprise OL. I'm hoping but I have nothing but hope itself to base hope on.

UT will have 4 Sr OL's this year and some decent players on D. IF these guys are as good as we all hope they are then they'll win games this year... and they'd better because it appears the cupboard will be pretty empty in '10.

Good points. Hurts like hell but still good.

All good points and I agree except what you are saying is that there are no real sophomores or juniors to fall back on? So the program was really broken and CLK is taking over a very threadbare program? I don't think the program was broken, just getting that way,,,, getting warm bodies will not work -- I bet CLK doesn't care if he has only 44 guys rostered if they are the right 44. Quality is clearly what he is reaching for these past few weeks.

Yes very much so on the OL and at DT. Last year with all the embarrassing off the field problems and staff changes was a killer. They had some major needs that they didn't come close to filling. One of the guys you might not think of to blame but who should be is Chavis. His laziness at recruiting was especially visible when the O staff turned over.

On the whole it might not have been broken but it was very close to it on the lines.

When I say "warm bodies" I mean guys that coaching and S&C can turn into SEC linemen... They don't have to come in ready to play but do need to be within 2 years of playing.

I hear much talk about how dire the OL situation is. How we're not going to get this recruit or that recruit or how we are 'bleeding' previously commited recruits. Obviously we could use some quality OL recruits, but if they are not there to be recruited, what is Kif supposed to do? By the time Kiffin got into the game the majority of the big name guys (OL and other positions) were gone. What is he supposed to do? I'm quite sure he has tried to sway many to UT, but as has been stated, that's very hard to do with kids that have longstanding relationships with other schools. What to do next? Verbally trash those schools? (not a good idea) Threaten them at gunpoint? (a federal offense last time I checked) Waste schollies on players that normally wouldn't even make good backups? (talk about something that will come back to bite you in the butt) It's a situation with no immediate solution.

As far as guys wavering, again, what do you do? You do your best to assure them that UT is still the place to come. A TOP nitch staff, a new system and add to that the very real prospect of early playing time that did not exist with the previous staff. After that, if these kids can't see that the future of UT football (theirs included) doesn't look brighter then there really isn't much you can do.

CLK inherited a program in disarray and spiraling downward. It will take time and a lot of hard work to turn this thing around. I for one believe he's up to the task. This class will not be what some here are expecting and many others are hoping for. That being said IMO, it should still be pretty good when you take everything into consideration.

It's most definately not time to go running thru the streets, screaming holy sh1t, we're all going to die...

I admit I'm not the most informed person when it comes to college recruting and all things that are 'college football'. The points I've brought up here, I'm sure, have been stated allready in various posts. What I'd like to emphasize is we remain calm, keep our heads up, show the class we are known for and support the new staff...

rant finished...

I'm pretty sure we got it. The sky is falling theme was working well. :good!:

The way it sounds this was the overall worst weekend in UT Sports history. :ermm:

This class will not define CLK....wins and losses will define him. :good!:

No, Jack is correct. It is a sign of the APOCALYPSE!

CLK will be lucky to sign Memphis rejects very soon.

Or not.

Daer sir or madame,

Fulmer went 10 years without an SEC title and if you think that 60 days hasn't been enough time for Lane Kiffin to fix things, well then you sir, are a big moran.

I'm tired of waiting, put up or shut up. Show me what all this money's gotten us----diddley squat.

I'm old and I'm angry, I may not live another 10 yrs, brother----Y2K, monkey virus, radical Islamic terrorists.

We got maybe 2-3 yrs before the world ends and I want a national championship. Give me what I want or else I'm taking every single thread on every single mother****ing webpage hostage till I get what I want!!!!!

You are all now prisoners to my incessant whining, unfounded criticisms, and sporadic tantrums.

You're on notice, you mothers!!!!

One of the funniest things ive read in a while. Tennesse jack is now my favorite person on here.
