For a brief amount of time there is an area between peaceful protest and full on rebellion.
It's a needed warning shot that states things have moved beyond peaceful protest and are approaching full on rebellion if things do not change in a hurry.
(Remember this about me saying that riots and destruction are rarely justified - THEY ARE NOT justified at this point - and several nutty posters taking issue with the "rarely" part of my post)
Just to head off all of the dumb posts that would have followed otherwise.

Last night's apparent assassination of someone because of their choice in politcal affiliation may have ramped things up a bit.

Watching Ted Wheeler press conference. Says he asks himself every day if he’s done everything he can do to stop the violence.

I’d kinda be embarrassed to make that statement if I were him. Portland govt has let this thing fester for what.....3 months now? They ignored what was happening and now there will be no stopping this without violence. The Portland rioters aren’t going to “just stop” for local govt or the national guard should they come in.

Just curious. A bag was thrown at Rittenhouse. He was then chased and shot the guy chasing him. Everyone on here says self-defense. The Portland video clearly shows the Trump guy walk towards the shooter and fire first. It was likely just mace, but the killer likely didn't know what the Trump guy had in his hand, as it was dark. All he knew is the Trump guy was going to attack him with something held in his hand.

Putting aside the intricacies of the law of self-defense (which differs from state to state), why do you feel Rittenhouse was more justified? Is it because he was retreating while the Portland shooter stood his ground? If this is the reason, does that make you rethink your view on stand your ground laws?
