Look guys i get it, yesterday was a pathetic performance. I was extremly dissapointed with the way the team played, and disgusted by the lack of urgency from the team. BUT

All the posters that are calling for pearls head are no better than the drama queens calling for kiffins head over "Allegations". CMon guys its a loss, a very embarassing one, but either way its 1 loss. Were 8-2 on the season. I understand that the quality of the teams that we have beat aren't the greatest BUT we haven't just beat those teams, we have destroyed them. You can't blame the coach for the way our team played, YOU can never blame the coach for a poor performance and lack of effort on a 1 game basis. If we show the same lack of effort and undiciplined play over multiple games then YES I am right thier with you guys ready to bust down the door on Pearls office.

I get the frustration and just like everyone else i have i hopes for this team. But many of you were calling for pearls head before this loss even though we were the 9th ranked team in the country. I guess people just miss the glory days of buzz peterson and jerry green. Hey they ran that half court offense all of you seem to want. Get off the guys back, at the years end we are going to have the same chance to cut the net as the other 64 teams in the tournament.

I understand it was one game, but at some point they need to start looking like a basketball team and not a knock off of the And 1 league. They're just undisciplined and have been for 3 years running. When does it stop and they start playing actual basketball?

I don't think we'll see anything different from this bunch. Sure they'll play better,but they'll still take bad shots, play soft around the rim and generally look unorganized. This is the brand of ball we've been treated too for as long as Pearl's been around, it's not changing anytime soon. First round exit in the tourney here we come.

Jerry green didn't know what kind of offense or defense he was running. And i started following UT basketball in 95. Although with the way our teams played up until the time we got Pearl i chose to watch more womens basketball, at least they were playing with heart

Can you people read? Who's the ones becoming dramatic here? The majority of people here criticizing Pearl haven't said one word about FIRING him. It's people like you who automatically get your panties in a wad when someone doesn't praise him for "all he's done for UT basketball".

And I'm not counting the drive-bys, I'm talking about the people that have been consistent with their criticisms.

From looking at your post on other threads in the basketball forum. You don't have 1 good thing to say about Our coach or Our players. Why exactly do you follow the team? You do realize that you are A fan and not a coach right? you don't have to blast them all the time to some how motivate them to be thier best. Do I like when we lose? NO. Im a going to gripe about being 8-2 and having one of the highest scoring offenses in college basketball? NO. Chill out dude were only 10 games in, we got a long way way to go!

Shouldn't have used the word shooters, I meant Players. Hobson and Smith, when hot, are virtually unstoppable. And we can run most teams out of the Gym. The defenseive effort is thier, but we need more ball movement and better inside play. The USC loss had nothing to do with either though, we just played Bad all the way around and Never showed any urgency until it was too late

You do realize that since the start of the 07 season, which would qualify your Past 2 seasons criteria, Tennessee is 55-16 under pearl in the reg season and consistently been one of the better defensive teams in the league. Thats the game i've beed watching, What about you, what comes on your TV screen?

I completely agree withyou. Sometimes its hard to be a VOL fan. We (vol fans), cry more than any fan base ive seen. For example.....Pearl sucks, ESPN hates us(cant get enough of that one), Slive hates us. People need to realize we have a PRICK for a football coach (and I for one love it!!) and we are going to get some negative pub because of it! Volnation, quit cryin about everything, your making me sick!!!!!!!!!

Pearl was a great energizer. He took Buzz's players and made them better. But now that we're playing with his recruits the personnel chemistry is much different than years past. Yes, I think he is not a good COACH. He just has spunk and a swagger that UT fans needed a few years ago. Now we have gotten ourselves back into the national spotlight we UT fans expect us to contend for a title every year and simply we just can't compete with teams like Duke and the rest of the ACC and Big East. If you want to see how winners play watch a Duke game. Their play is simply beautiful if not some form of art. Simply two different coaching styles and one consistently gets it done year after year.

Don't be melodramatic. I don't hear a lot of people calling for firing. I hear dissatisfaction with his Coaching, or lack thereof, and requesting improvement.

What team are you watching? The lack of heart, control/discipline, and hard play is a major source of frustration.
