And some of you want Chaney & Pittman back?

Nobody who has any football knowledge wanted Chaney or Mahoney gone. The offense was fine. The defense sucked. Did you even watch the games back then?

Watched every painful one. You could count on Chaney to get tunnel vision and completely abandon the running game. Terrible mix of plays before that. Offense piled up yards because we had a gifted THROWER and targets. Not one significant clutch win in that era. Heard tons of fan complaints about Chaney. Vast majority wanted to keep Pittman, of course.

Have to admit the OL and run game greatly improved as they matured. The 2010 roster had multiple FR starting on the OL. By the final year, the run game avg 160 YPG; not great but respectable.

And it was a giant improvement in their junior season...credit to Pittman. Even more an indictment of Chaney going full pass in crunch time.

Our offense averaged over 30 points a game the year Sal destroyed our hopes and dreams. If you can't win 9 games in the SEC averaging 30 ppg then your defense is the worst in the nation, and look, it was one of the worst in TN history.

Can't blame the offense in those years. "clutch" doesn't work when the other side of the ball gives up 3 60 yard plays in a row.

We had a super talented THROWER and gifted targets. Piled up a lot of yards and points...especially on the
cupcakes. The defense shouldn't affect a "well-coached" offense on game winning drives against credible teams...choked every time. Tunnel vision pass happiness and abandonment of the running game in the red zone...Chaney's calling card.
