And The Meek Shall Inherit The East...

The East sure is down this year...I mean how many East teams beat West teams this year?

The Gamecocks won the East with a 5-3 record.

Of those three loses, only one was to an SEC East team (Kentucky no less). The other two losses are to Auburn and Arkansas.

This season, the Gamecocks beat Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee Vanderbilt and Florida.

They definitely earned the SEC East title.

Imagine this reality...

All Kentucky had to do was defeat the two Miss schools, and they would be playing in the SEC championship game. That sounds weird just saying it.

I loathed him at florida. However, that hatred had more to do with the fact we had fulmer getting exposed by him on a yearly basis. There's always been the respect factor there with him, though.

Pretty much the way I feel about Spurrier. Hell, I even enjoyed when he took jabs at us when he was at Florida, I just hated losing to him. Now that he is at USCe, I like the guy.

Congrats to South Carolina for taking advantage of a down eastern division.

That win over a loaded Alabama certainly didn't hurt their case. They earned it this year no matter how down the division is. Though I do think it would be hilarious if they found a way to lose to Troy and Clemson and beat Auburn.

You might beat us this year, but wow. I can't believe how many UK fans have been counting UT in their W column all season for the past few years.

I'm not one of those. Brutally honest, I have not examined the football records that closely (pertaining to the SEC race), especially since we dropped those games back to back. KSR made mention of it, and at a glance I thought those two wins secured it.

After looking again, it does say that we could be "playing" for a shot at the SEC title game. That was my slip.

I can honestly say I don't know any Ky fans that are just assuming they will beat UT. A lot of are hopeful and feel we have a good chance but we have 25 years of classical conditioning on the subject.

I assume that they have also seen Bray. That defense is not going to stop him with the weapons UT has at receiver. We could have the 2007 score for both teams without any overtimes...

Fair enough. :good!:

This will be a shootout, unless we jump to an early lead like we did vs Ole Miss. Then again, you guys are a second-half team, so even a big early lead may not keep this game from being a close, coin-flip shootout by game's end.

Who the hell knows. If UK keeps the bazooka away and doesn't shoot themselves in both feet, then its on. However, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see them rolled up similar to what you guys did to Ole' Miss.

Ya they earned it and it's a major accomplishment for their program but let's not act like the east wasn't gawd awful this year.

To echo what's been said - East sucks (2nd best team is .500 in conf) but beating (soundly) Alabama is a solid accomplishment. When one team in the SECCG is barely a top 20 team that tells you something about that division. Either way they earned it and congrats are in order.

They better enjoy it. This probably won't happen again for a long, long, time.

This team has made me scared to watch the 2nd half of games all year, especially the 3rd quarter. Being a second half team plays right into UK's hands against us imo.

Sorry but I cannot be happy for SC ! I hate them and I hope they lose the rest of their games! Sorry.

i'd much rather them than have it have been "Oh sh-t, the Gators are so awesome! Even when we have a bad or down year, we still make it to the SEC championship; for the third time in a row!!!! Suck on that!" etc

It was the lesser of the two evils here for me
