And then there were ten…National Title team is on this list

I think your completely missing the point or intentionally ignoring it. Do we just ignore that UCONN improved their defense by #15 spots from end of season to end of tournament? Does this mean the model should actually be called 40/25 +/- 15? Since there is an established deviation of 15 induced by using different data dates?
What is there to ignore. They were on the list both before and after the tournament. Good for them for not only improving their position but winning it all. How many teams do you actually think are not on the list that can improve their positioning enough to be included. It was put there to show once again how embedded the Vols are within this. How they should be viewed as one of the rock solid options for winning it all. Are there 9 other teams on this list that can also do it, sure...are there maybe 2-3 capable of rising to this level, sure. You are either on the list at end of year or you are not. 22 times in a row says the champion will be.

You seem to be using it/reading it as a different way than what it was made for…if you want to say the champion will meet the criteria at years end then yea, that’s very likely. However the purpose of this list is to be able to project prior to the tourney who has the best chance to win it all.

It reads potential national champions as of March 2nd. Many of you are trying to make it way more than it is. For our purposes the Vols are on the list and they will continue being on the list before and after the tournament. This is a Vols message board.

This team is very good and looks like the best squad that Barnes has had to date but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Barnes 2018-2019 team and the 2021-2022 team both looked like they could make runs and fell short. Even last year that was the case.

It isn't just Barnes, I got bit on some of Bruce Pearl's teams as well (he never made FF also). The Ohio State comeback still hurts...
The one point loss (if I remember correctly) to Michigan St in the Elite 8 (2009-2010?) was the worst to me because it was so close and such a heartbreaker.

Yeah, but we made the Elite 8, something we hadn't done before. But yeah, that makes sense.
