Coaches aren't fans, they are paid to recruit players to play at UT.

If this needs to be explained to you then maybe you need to seek professional assistance too!

There's no harm in someone reaching out to these kids on social media to congratulate them on whatever accolade it is that they've achieved. It's directly comparable to a person they don't know in their hometown stopping them and congratulating them.

The harmful portion comes when people try to latch on to these recruits to push them towards UT. Again, it's completely analogous to someone that the kid doesn't know in their own town reaching out to the kid and forming some sort of relationship with them in hopes of swaying their college choice.

Also, it could be a big-time NCAA violation.... not that being an NCAA violation counts for anything.

What would coach jones say if you asked him "are you a fan of UT?"
He'd say yes. Nothing wrong with following recruits but don't be weird about it. They like followers and it helps UT recruit whether you admit it or not.

There is also the ignorance of believing that everyone posing as a UT fan on twitter is an actual UT fan. They are taking a comment from one guy and pegging it to an entire fanbase.
