Can't argue with that. Google has nothing that holds a stick to iMessage. Textra is the best Android has, IMO FWIW.Security and encryption, you can use Imessage on just Wifi when you have no phone signal, you can message from your computer, quality of photos and other media that you can send is better, read receipts, and the blue box. I have textra and have tried the others and they just arent as functional IMO than Imessage.
By the other side of the same token, my wife and her entire side of the family use iPhone and they are always angry at me at how diminished their user experience is when they are texting a group with me on it. I'm sitting here thinking "that isn't an issue for me, I have the same experience no matter who I message!" They tell me they can't name a group if there's an SMS user in it...It’s amazing how much of a factor iMessage is in people’s decision on which platform to use. It’s a big deal for me too being in a family of iPhone users.

That happens a lot. I hear from my kids that people they know get shamed into getting an iPhone unless they want to get left out of group messages.By the other side of the same token, my wife and her entire side of the family use iPhone and they are always angry at me at how diminished their user experience is when they are texting a group with me on it. To me, it seems that RCS is great and all, but you still have to choose to use Google's messaging app (for now). It seems like it's something that other third party or first-party (OEMs) could adopt with time.Aren’t those of you on android using RCS with Android Messages? It’s supposed to be googles long awaited answer to iMessage.
Yeah, my work phone is an iPhone. Both have their merits. That happens a lot. I hear from my kids that people they know get shamed into getting an iPhone unless they want to get left out of group messages.
And yeah you get a consistent experience, which is the experience they complain about. Lol. No blue bubble, no notification dots, etc. etc.
My issue is I get bored with iOS because it isn’t nearly as customizable as android. And the whole google and google assistant integration is much better than Siri. I also prefer androids notifications.
It’s always a trade off I guess.

See this tweet, from Textra:
It also seems like it's something that Apple could choose to adopt, but likely won't, just so they can be different.
This seems like it's turning out to be the "USB-C of messaging". Google will lead the way in adopting it into its products, but Apple will stick with lightning because it's "theirs" even though the wider market would greatly benefit from them adopting it.
I've always just used the factory message app too, but these rave reviews had me intrigued. Only thing I don't like about the factory app is videos from iPhones come in looking like crap.Have always been pro Android but have never used anything but the stocks on each individual phone (Samsungs, LGs, Motos, BLUs) Guess I am missing out on something.
I get it.I'm thinking I'll probably just get the S21, I'm over the bigger phones and I don't use the video camera enough to need anything that high quality.
