The german government killed and tortured millions of Jews and they appear to have moved on. Hell, it was another country that freed them too.
Yes they did. One thing though, they were tortured, separated and killed....and after the holocaust the remains of their families fled to America of their own free will and while they were faced with discrimination they still had the foundation of family to lean on.
They still had their heritage and knowledge of self.
Africans were kidnapped, tortured, killed, separated and sold off to the highest bidder, forced to have incestuous relations, given different names, denied education, forced to eat scraps and raped at the drop of a hat for 465 years.

...is that what you call freedom?
Members of my family that are lucky enough to draw breath can recall being spit on by little kids as their parents laughed it off like a random joke. Those kinds of emotions don't fade and believe me they get passed down from generation to generation.
Countless murders and lynchings just because these men had the absurd desire to be treated equally.
...but no, you expect the effects of 500 years of segregation to be nullified just because you think "it's about time they get over it."

I'm thankful my mother and father taught me the importance of treating people as I wanted to be treated. but many like me were not so lucky to have solid people around them.
I realize it may be "unfortunate" for some but some stains just don't wash out when it's convenient for you.
But my fellow African Americans need to hold themselves to a higher standard. No doubt about that.
Call it a work in progress.
