Angrier About Florida Loss

Yeah when Vols beat Georgia in Neyland and knock them out of playoffs, Swamp game will be trivial.

Unless we lose another one. Then we have to hope Georgia also loses another one or we're sunk.

Winning that Florida game would mean we could have lost in Tuscaloosa and still won the East with a win over Georgia. No longer the case.

Get over it.

If history has told us anything, Florida just owns us in football.

That’s not a knock on the program but Fulmer sucked against Florida too. So did Butch, Dooley, Pruitt, and Heupel has lost to them twice now since he’s been here.

It is what it is.

Actually it is... a program is embarrassing if they constantly lose against the same team over and over again and has only beat them 2 times in 20 years.

Good football programs like Oklahoma, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, USC, etc. don't have that happen.

Yeah i dont know that it’s fair to lump Heupel in with the rest of those yet. If Heupel manages to beat UF next year at Home then that would put him at .500 against them as head coach when the every-year series ends. That’s pretty good. At least better than the rest of those.

I’m still hot under the collar about the second half of the 2001 SECCG.

But to your question- we didn’t have Mays in Florida, and I think that makes all the difference in the world.
Mays doesn't explain why we couldn't stop a Florida team that hasn't been able to score on anyone else. We played like complete garbage on both sides of the ball in the Florida game.

The really interesting part of the Florida game is that Tennessee got out coached. The defensive players were not lined up to stop Florida's run if you watch it. Florida always had more blockers and ability to bust the holes.

We didn't scheme well on offense also. It seemed like the coaches stopped coaching for a game.

We improved dramatically against South Carolina.

I still think something is off when we play on the road and this loss may not have been Florida specific.

The Volunteers don’t win much in Florida.

Also because Florida usually plays their best game of their regular season vs Tennessee, and Tennessee finds ways to self destruct vs Florida.

With not playing this game annually anymore, and hopefully not always at the beginning of the season, I think this game will lose some of its mystique and they start to play it like any other game.. which is a plus we will get from the changes 😂 we still mentally treat Florida like Steve Spurrier is still there or something… Florida is not Florida anymore and we never got the memo 😂

There have been many stories about strange things lurking in that swamp going back several decades. Recently on discovery channel a journey was made deep into the swamp to discover and find the mythical creatures that inhabit the swamp. The expedition turned up nothing, but with decades of evidence, we can be certain a mythical swamp monster does indeed exist.

It's a waste of time to argue over spilt milk. It's a waste of time to keep going back to the Florida game.

The next 4 years will tell if we have a good football program. During the last 15 years, we have not been a good football program, but we are an improving football program. We will soon get there.

I am watching the Florida vs Vandy game and seeing Vandy play well is making me sick about the performance of the Vols vs Florida.

In my 67 years there's one thing that's certain....When UT wins it was 100 percent UT and we had to beat the refs to boot....When UT loses its the refs fault. That goes for basketball too.

Lol. I didn’t say it was 100% the refs fault. But if you don’t think the refs didn’t have a huge effect on our game then you didn’t watch it. Even Herbstreit said multiple times about the questionable calls. But whatever.

I did watch every play....and I coached the game for 33 years. Every fan base blames the refs.

Our asses was beat by the end of the 1st quarter...and that was 100 percent on UT. If you are a good team you go win it....Losers make excuses...winners don't have to.

Why are we so cursed against Florida? We have to have our absolute best team against their absolute worst team to pull out a win, and that seems to happen roughly once a decade.

Lol. Yeah and now you are a former coach. If you truly were then you wouldn’t have made an idiotic post like this. Good day.

It’s unexplainable. Think about it. Even at our best we barely beat them. 1998 we win by 3. Last year we would have drilled them if Beupel didn’t go conservative. Since 1990 we have one truly dominant victory, 1990 when we won 45-3. I have no clue.

You like to be a smart ass don't you...I coached in the 70s...80s...90s and early 2000s. I could care less what you think or say. Some might coware to your SA ways I guarantee I will not...

How many times has UT scored....gained big plays....won ballgames...that UT should have been flagged for holding...push offs....picks? That's what I thought! Anyone that knows the game knows it goes both ways....How many times our defense should have been called for holding...pass interference...facemasks etc...but didn't get called that should have gone in the other teams favor? That's what I thought....Anyone that knows about the game should have known that. And not blame the refs and make idiotic post like you do...

And I could care less what kind of day you have. Now go back to your bullying ways.

Refs took away 2 scoring drives. Mertz didn’t even throw for 200 yards. He had 1 TD. Rewatch the game and at least get a clue.

Everyone blames the refs when you like your head coach and lose one you shouldn’t. It’s low level fan stuff. I like Heupel too but face it, he got outcoached that game.
