Better than Jimmie Johnsons teams?

In terms of NFLer abundance and depth, yes. They may not have been as flashy as those 80s teams were, but the '01 squad was stacked and the mere mention of their name would make a Florida Gator piss in his pants.

The '01 squad was also lacking in the QB department when compared to the Jim Kelly, Gino Torretta, and Vinny Testaverde teams, but the troika of McGahee, Portis, and Gore made Chud a very content coordinator. They also had a few guys by the name of Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow Jr., Brett Romberg, Bryant McKinnie, Andre Johnson, Nadjeh Davenport, et al. Not to mention the D led by Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Phillip Buchanon, Vince Wilfork, and Jonathan Vilma.

Had an All-American kicker, too.

Only thing lacking was a coach.

Was he ever a serious candidate for the job at UT during our last 2 searches? Did he turn us down or did we not pursue him hard enough?

He was the first coach UT targeted to replace Fulmer. However, Davis quickly stated that he and his family were happy at UNC and weren't interested.

I'd rather not discuss the most recent coaching search as I would have to flagrantly violate board rules to adequately state my feelings about it.
