Defense and the NBA loves guards that rebound.

Also, did anybody see the last half of the game in Knoxville? Kentucky basically spread the floor and let Rondo beat his man one-on-one to either score or dish. Add that to the fast break style in many NBA systems and the restrictions that are still in place limiting zone defenses and you have a picture of what NBA scouts see.

Not to start another argument hatvol, but the Lexington paper stated that Rondo was not planning on hiring an agent to keep his options open. This came out yesterday, though, so things could have changed, and of course they could have gotten it wrong.

It also stated that Rikalin Sims was considering transferring, which I think would be a bigger blow than many UK fans realize. I thought he was their best offensive player until Morris returned from Faxland.

The Louisville Courier Journal, Rondo's hometown paper, reported he had hired an agent. The comments I saw attributed to Tubby also indicated he had hired an agent.

Bill Duffy, who has a pretty good client list, will be Rondo's agent.

You are correct about the agent. Newer story from the Herald-Leader:

Why those people seem to think they will be better without one of their two best players is beyond me, and the Florida comments in the article are a little silly. Are they really trying to blame their disappointing season on Rondo? Yet another reason UK edges out so many others on the programs I love to hate list.

Rondo is a mistake and will never make it and Brewer isn't ready

Are you kidding? Rondo will make it easily. Brewer will to, but they both could use a little more practice.

I think Rondo will be a fine NBA player. Yeah, he can't shoot but you're fooling yourself if you think it's a permanent problem. When has Tubby ever been able to teach someone how to shoot? His shot is very fixable. Aside from his shooting he is just as good as any other guard in the country at everything else. Passing, driving, rebounding, creating, etc. And one of the best defenders I've seen in a long time. It will take a while but you will hear his name in the future.

And Rekalin Sims...he had one good game in November or early December (Iowa, which UK lost) and then hurt his back and very seldom took the court the rest of the year. What's to miss?

What's to miss is another inside scoring threat to complement Morris. I always wondered how another team would go about defending a lineup of Rondo, Crawford, Perry, Morris, Sims, but I can't recall ever seeing them on the floor together. That five is big, athletic, and can score from every position. Let's just say that I won't be disappointed if the kid moves back to Cali and plays somewhere in the Pac-10. That is safer for the Vols, in my opinion, than having him somewhere down Tubby's bench where UK's logorithmic substitution patterns might actually get him into a game against us (he played 4 minutes and 15 minutes in the two games this year.) In my mind, he is a much scarier player than Sheray Thomas or Ramel Bradley.

Remember how highly touted he was coming out of JuCo? I think he is an NBA prospect that has not been utilized to his fullest potential at UK, whether due to injury, style of play, attitude, or insanity.
