In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by the force of his personality. The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

The West Wing has been churning out news non-stop since President Donald Trump took office, but the East Wing has quite literally remained dark.

It's been 12 days since the last public sighting of first lady Melania Trump, who had been planning on splitting her time between Washington and New York, where the couple's son, Barron, is completing the school year.

"The first lady thanks everyone for their support and a beautiful welcome to Washington. She is returning to New York in advance of the school week and will be splitting her time between Washington and New York for the next few weeks," the spokeswoman said.

She has not been back to DC since.

Trump reverses course?... or does something sane?

President Trump, after promising a radical break with the foreign policy of Barack Obama, is embracing key pillars of the former administration’s strategy, including warning Israel to curb construction of settlements, demanding that Russia withdraw from Crimea and threatening Iran with sanctions for ballistic missile tests.

In the most startling shift, the White House issued an unexpected statement appealing to the Israeli government not to expand the construction of Jewish settlements beyond their current borders in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Such expansion, it said, “may not be helpful in achieving” the goal of peace.

At the United Nations, Ambassador Nikki R. Haley declared that the United States would not lift sanctions against Russia until it stopped destabilizing Ukraine and pulled troops out of Crimea.

On Iran, the administration is preparing a set of economic sanctions that are similar to what the Obama administration imposed just over a year ago. The White House has also shown no indication that it plans to rip up Mr. Obama’s landmark nuclear deal, despite Mr. Trump’s withering criticism of it during the presidential campaign.

We have a President who obviously had no idea who Frederick Douglass was and spoke of him in the present tense while addressing a black history month event. We have a President who used The National Prayer Breakfast to gloat over the decline in ratings of "The Apprentice" since Arnold Schwarzenegger took over as host.

As, the Executive Producer of the show, Trump was hoping the dig would generate a bump in the viewership. No conflict of interest, just look away.

Spicer's response in presser re: Trump's comment on Douglass may be a SNL skit. The professionalism exudes from the West Wing.

They need to look in the mirror and decide if this action is what the people that voted for them would approve of. They lost in 2012, lost in 2014, lost big in 2016 and they still don't get it. Just because they won their state by a large margin does not mean they can ignore the 40% who voted against them. If they continue down this road there will be no Democratic party.

12 year old girls have better social media discipline than the president. If it weren't so embarrassing and classless for our POTUS to pick twitter fights it'd be funny. #moneycantbuyclass

Police: Woman Upset Trump President Tried To Hit Officer « CBS Connecticut

State police say 58-year-old Eileen Pierce tried to hit an officer directing traffic at a tree-trimming site on Route 69– allegedly driving her Subaru wagon directly at him, yelling out the window, and shaking her fist. The officer quickly got out of the way, and police say Pierce narrowly missed hitting a tree crew.

When Pierce was pulled over at the Burlington-Bristol line, troopers say she rambled for several minutes, saying she was upset with police and that officers are being murdered because they tend to abuse people’s rights — noting she was angry that Donald Trump is president.
