Anti-Trump Hysteria and Silliness

Didn't know where else to put this, but this is a pretty interesting constitutional position. Not saying they should do this, but I didn't even consider it as a possibility.

The [25th] amendment provides that if the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet or Congress declare in writing “that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” the veep takes over. The president can dispute their assessment, but if a two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress side with the vice president, the removal stands.

Constitutional crisis immediately ensues. This isn't for Trump, it's for people who have had strokes, POTUS's who start having excessive demonstrations of dementia, or are in a vegetative state for a prolonged amount of time.

The constitution says nothing about "strokes", bro.

Those are the understood conditions in which this article would be triggered. many a discussion was had over this in my constitutional law classes.
The 25th Amendment Solution for Removing Trump

Ross Douthat seems to like the idea... SINCE:

A child cannot be president. I love my children; they cannot have the nuclear codes.
But a child also cannot really commit “high crimes and misdemeanors” in any usual meaning of the term.
.......I do not believe that our president sufficiently understands the nature of the office that he holds, the nature of the legal constraints that are supposed to bind him, perhaps even the nature of normal human interactions, to be guilty of obstruction of justice...

If it were this simple they would have invoked the 25th Amendment on Reagan. It's not going to happen. Even having this discussing is ****ing insane.

Yes, I fully understand the impossibility of this particular mechanism...i just like the quotes from one of the nytimes' resident editorial page conservatives ....here's some more:
The presidency is not just another office. It has become, for good reasons and bad ones, a seat of semi-monarchical political power, a fixed place on which unimaginable pressures are daily brought to bear, and the final stopping point for decisions that can lead very swiftly to life or death for people the world over. One does not need to be a Marvel superhero or Nietzschean Übermensch to rise to this responsibility. But one needs some basic attributes: a reasonable level of intellectual curiosity, a certain seriousness of purpose, a basic level of managerial competence, a decent attention span, a functional moral compass, a measure of restraint and self-control. And if a president is deficient in one or more of them, you can be sure it will be exposed.

Trump is seemingly deficient in them all. Some he perhaps never had, others have presumably atrophied with age. He certainly has political talent — charisma, a raw cunning, an instinct for the jugular, a form of the common touch, a certain creativity that normal politicians lack. He would not have been elected without these qualities. But they are not enough, they cannot fill the void where other, very normal human gifts should be.

we have a child upon the throne.
It is a child who blurts out classified information in order to impress distinguished visitors. It is a child who asks the head of the F.B.I. why the rules cannot be suspended for his friend and ally. It is a child who does not understand the obvious consequences of his more vindictive actions — like firing the very same man whom you had asked to potentially obstruct justice on your say-so.

a child also can't be president because you have to 35 to be president. but don't let that get in the way of your straw dogs

For years Trump won't even accept that Obama is an American citizen.

interesting question. Is it worse that a president isn't American or is a traitor?

I think the true plan is that Trump is ruling up the media in order to create apathy amongst American voters. The media so far has taken to reporting any tiny misdeed and magnifying it. Eventually everyone will tire of the sensationalism that all the media has drummed up and they will tune it out.

That's when Russia will invade. Stay vigilant, fellow patriot

Exactly, but a few on here keep eating the sh!t the MSM feeds them.

A good PsyOps campaign. Pretty masterful even if be coincidence. Only the tried and true liberals will continue to be outraged. Most moderates and independents (typically the most important demographic in elections) will have to sift through so many sensationalized news reports to find and verify facts. Eventually, they'll say meh he isn't as bad.
