That's kind of my point. He can be a douche and still be a funny douche. Just think about the Al Smith Dinner and his canned remarks. Had the chance to stick to a humor message, couldn't do it.

Bush 41 invited Dana Carvey to the White House and laughed more than anyone else at his impression. Reagan was indeed the master of disarming his critics with his humor and wit. He won 97 states in his two elections. You don't do that because everyone just loves your politics.

Guys, I think I've been too hard on Trump. I've forgotten the scandals that were rocking the White House 8 years ago. King Obama made an unnecessary trip to NYC!

One of my fav Reagan moments:
Debating Mondale, press had been making an issue of Dutch's age, and he "promises not to use his opponents youth and inexperience against him". Mondale caught laughing at his lecturn.

Well, a lot more than the Republicans did when all sorts of awful and horrible things were being said or portrayed about him.

The GOP could learn a thing or two out of this about being classy. Dem officials have criticized her for this. But the GOPers largely stood silent in reaction to the myriad over-the-top attacks on Obama.

I think that if he decided to lead by example things would improve. The attitude comes from the top. Stop demanding that everyone bow down and listen to some ideas. Start with the Republicans and then the dems. Find some common ground.

Yes, that was a great moment... and he also had great comedic timing. He took a drink of water after saying that (like a drop the mic moment). He knew he had hit one out of the park. It was impossible not to like Reagan and that really worked to his advantage when he had his own scandal in '86. Whereas Trump only knows how to be combative with his critics, Reagan could win his critics over with charm.

As was just pointed out to Sean Spicer at his press conference, Ted Nugent once said that Barack Obama should be shot but that didn't stop Trump from inviting him to the White House and to perform at his campaign rallies in Michigan. Both parties are guilty of selective outrage.

I'll be honest with you, Trump is not in my top 1 million of presidential candidates. Unfortunately he was running against someone who isn't in my top 300 million so... there's that.

I've said it on here before, I'd prefer Rubio of all candidates. He may have been 4-8 years too early though. I'm also not registered republican and in Florida, I have no vote in primaries so it wasn't my choice.
