Any baseball card gurus on the board?

Thanks for all the response guys! Like I said its really more for a keepsake for him but I was just curious since I have bought any baseball cards in about 35 years. I'm so old I remember collecting what we called Chopper Cards. They were cards of motorcycles much like you see on all these tv shows now days but I think back then you had to be a Hell's Angel to ride one of those things.

That dude that sold Jeremy Lin's rookie card for tens of thousands on like day 40 of Linsanity is looking like a fooging genius right about now. Insider trading, IMO.

Need help! With the arrival of my new son I had the idea to buy him a complete set of 2012 baseball cards to save and might continue to do this every year. I collected cards in my childhood but back then Topps was about the only ones around. What brand is the best today? I'm really doing this as a keepsake type thing but if he wants to cash in someday I would like to get the best available.

I think Topps is still the only company with a license to produce baseball cards. The card market went belly up a couple of years ago.
